2016 bikes

Kona offering some good looking bikes. This being my particular favourite.

Gonna be buying hydraulic discs and 105 5800 for my new bike soon. hydro 105 coming out next month, might be cheaper, but is it too ugly to justify? :/

Wise ed, do you know anymore details about the release/ pricing? All I can find is a couple of articles with the renders. Was just going to go for the current non series hydraulic levers and brakes but will hold off if they are actually releasing this in october

You also need to take in account of many bicycle shops inexperienced with road hydraulic despite the bleeding method being similar.

Waiting mean you'll get some good deal as well, and see if there is an issues with the budget road hydraulic levers.

I really don't get why the Essato got thru axles before the Ti Rove, but lovely all the same.

My lowest gear is 41", vs 37" on that Spesh, I just hate big jumps between sprockets.

For next year I'm into a new road bike with disc brakes, mudguards and non-carbon... for endurance rides. Genesis Croix de Fer seems like a great option, but it just found that Kinesis 2016 will get some road disc ones too, maybe trying to follow the their ex-designer Dom Mason

Go for non-CX bicycles, like the Equilibrium.

Thanks Ed, although I don't see great differences in geometry with the Croix (maybe because I really don't get what some numbers translate in terms of handling and comfort) but has much sense to get a road frame than a cx. The third bottle cage in the down tube got my interest... couldn't find on other frames except for the Surly Disc Trucker (and custom ones) :(

Geometry doesn't show much but equilibrium is quicker handling, lighter and feel more nimble/responsive in comparison.

Keen to know why; do CX bikes not ride as well as road bikes on road?
Whats the handeling diff between a high stack road bike like Domane compared to say Boone with exact same stack but CX geo?

Stronger, less spritely tubesets surely? If I were to buy a road bike this year, it would be an equilibrium with a steel fork, 650b wheels and discs.

All of the above plus usually a bit more trail than road bikes.

Bingo, more trail = stability.

Thus feel slower on the road, the longer wheelbase add to this also.

This applies to the majority of CX a bicycles, there's a few whose geometry is racier and a lower BB.

One thing, while headtube angle appear to be the same, the CX bike tend to have less rake than the road counterpart.
