Yea got a 700c Ghibli pair from Russia (got the fluidisks from there too), front had a 4" tear in it but still runs straight, but I don't fancy using it myself so its hanging on the wall. Rear one is a proper track disc but has some problems at the rim join where someones had a go at it with pliers or something to stop the joint moving apart presumably. The wheels perfectly true though with no tears so for a decent price I wasn't going to turn it down, it doesn't look too bad really and only shows on non drive side. Neither had axles though so I had to buy a pair of hubs and strip them down. Its worth noting that rear track Ghiblis with the shield logo on seem much more expensive, most I've seen are nearer the £700 mark :/, take ages to find too
You did well with the zipps, some listings are a right mess which does help you get a good price but means you can't find them haha. Zeus toolbox sounds cool!

• #30
If the price is right then why not eh. Im not even a big fan of them as they command such high prices tbh. Id rather something cheaper that I can use without feeling bad skidding on ;-)
Just waiting on payday to pay for the toolbox but anyways.. Zeus thread>>>

Hi Jon, you say it runs true thanks, how would you say the bearings run ?

Sold my old HED disc for £125 to a mate. It was scruffy but solid. It's gone to a good home.

Double fluidisks on ebay.com - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Track-Disc-Wheel-Set-700C-/161707324880?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item25a681f5d0

starting at $1400-still think I'd rather the discounted navigators on my build and get track use for that kinda dough (need to get shit together and source a wedge/expanding seatpost clamp first)
-
• #35
Nice find, should be interesting to see if/what they go for.
lister says he has a 26" front ghibli pista too if you ask, might be worth a look for those looking for one
-
• #36
He wants 600 for the 26....... loooool
I can get my hands on some Silva disc wheels for 700 euro + postage in very good condition, what you guys think of the price?
-
• #37
That new 26" Ghibli went for £365 but only posted to Germany so that may be why. £600 is pretty steep, could understand a higher price if it was a pair of ghiblis or khamsins or something to save people looking for the other one. Silvas sound nice, don't see them often, they're heavy though aren't they? No idea what they're worth but doesn't seem too bad I wouldn't have thought

Yeah for 600 quid id rather go on holiday or something. Check this set out - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Campagnolo-Record-PISTA-TRACK-LENTICULAR-Wheelset-Vintage-NOS-650c-700c-/201341579691?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ee0e4b1ab
Aero covers done well, bit on the pricey side imo
-
• #39
€700 is a good price for the silva's so buy them. The covers are just cover and only worth that to a collector as a piece of history not a £200 wheelset with some plastic on them.
-
• #40
True boss but I think the lack of space I have is making me think twice about getting them. Ive already got a set but they dont match :-(
Also this just appeared - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IKO-Sport-Carbon-Kevlar-Scheibe-Scheibenrad-Zeitfahren-Discwheel-Aero-/281698120458?

Ive only seen a couple araya ones for sale on ebay.com? Whats wrong with tubs really? Tub thread >>
-
• #43
Hassle of having two different sized tubs as a pose to two different inner tubes. Gone clincher rear so might as well on the front.
-
• #44
Has anyone had any experience with these khamsins? Considering how ratty the wheel is - is his price right?
-
• #45
Tons of discs seem to go in the €250 range in my parts I wouldn't mind picking of a spengle at some point. Also I bought an old hed here for €70 they are pretty cheap. Sold an Araya disc 2 years ago for $500 bought it for $75, wish I kept it.
-
• #46
$75! I can have a collection the size of BigH's at that price!
-
• #47
cheapest disc i ever bought was $35, almost got a mavic challenger for free but it was too out of true to bother with. have pretty good luck with cheap wheels. just need to re apply it to finding a look x96 frame for cheap...

Just for the dribble factor.... go to the Bike Rooms Pinarello shop down eros.... they have the Miguel Indurain Banesto aero with matching disc front and back.
They also have less interesting things like Wiggo's hour record bike fitted with discs.
mavic comete shimano hub Clincher - http://www.ebay.com/itm/rare-and-nice-2010-Mavic-Comete-Disk-lenticular-Wheel-rear-body-shimano-9-10-11v-/121649539421?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c52e0a95d
