Can't tell from your picture but these are a good shout for drop bar levers to V-brakes:

Unless you have inline adjustment on the cable. -

For the sake of the thread, here's the bike somewhere in California:

China carbon could be an option for sure at those prices! I'll get pricing up cable disk options this week. I've never worked with disks so that could be fun.
I had kind of expected that I'd be hacking together a solution for front guards if I went for a carbon cross fork, so I'm prepared to go down the p-clips route too.@tallsam I'm actually not 100% what kind of brakes my levers were designed for, I think they're discontinued now. They're paired up with mini-vs and while they're easily powerful enough (mates using cantis couldn't believe the stopping power when they tried) they're pretty spongy. So from that I'm thinking the levers were designed for use with full Vs, but really I have no idea

Would this be a straight swap?

I have a Straggler disc fork for sale, not carbon obviously, but a straight swap for the cc fork. Pm if interested. Jon

I'm on the lookout for a single TRP Spyre (pref. without rotors) or Spyre SLC (shiny + carbon) but I keep spotting pairs on eBay. Might get a pair if you want to go halves. Not sure what the caliper's pull ratio is, concerning your existing levers, but they're supposed to work with all levers designed for regular road calipers.
Will be pairing mine to a Dura-Ace BL-TT79 when it happens. -
• #84
How much are pairs going for at the moment? I could do with a single Spyre for the pub bike...
-
• #86
I've seen single calipers go for between £40 and £50, but now price is slowly creeping up, and recently there haven't been many singles.
@alialias no worries :-) -

Cheap, light and has mudguard mounts. Needs brake bosses screwed in, apparently needs M8, while M10 is widely used.http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Carbon-Fork-Cyclocross-Trekking-1-1-8-28-6mm-V-brake-715g-For-Bike-Bicycle-Shipping/32217827024.html?spm=2114.01010108.3.125.iFsl2E&ws_ab_test=201556_8,201527_3_45_71_72_73_74_75,201560_1

Haven't ridden it yet but from examination, it feels reassuringly solid (alu crown, alu inserts in disc mount and dropouts). Steerer is bonded to the alu crown, and is mega long. Uncut, it weighs 525g. Quality of finish (especially over the crown area, where it's paint over alu) isn't that great, i.e., they could have spent more time smoothing/scultping the alu before painting it, but that just lends it perfectly to DIY, and no complaints at that price.
Haven't ridden yet as it needs grinding/filing/sanding a bit to match my head tube.
Will do. Might actually create a thread for once :-) -
• #92
Useful knowing how much overweight it is compared to the quote, thanks!
You should do a thread. Would be a good place to discuss the aero factor for disk brakes, I have no idea but I'd like to watch that conversation unfold and this thread certianly isn't the place for it... -
• #93
Yep agreed.
I don't think that weight claim is too bad... +35g isn't a lot, and will seem accurate enough once steerer is cut to a sensible length.
Are you sticking with V brakes? No disc mounts on any forks above.
My seller, 'Happy Riding', declared the package as 'gift' (without me asking them to) so there was no VAT/Import Duty to pay. It will vary whether sellers will/wont/give the option of doing this, so... Have you checked out what 'Happy Riding' might have to suit? -
• #94
Yeah I'm gonna stick to my Vs, like I said they're more than enough stopping power and mean that it's more of a straight swap for my tight budget!
-
• #96
Oooo platinum discount!
-
• #97
I'm fine though I think. I'll probably just hang on for a supercheap road bb7 - it's for the pub bike after all.
-
• #98
Haha yeah, only cos I bought my pair of spyres from there at £62 each and that bumped me up to platinum... Haha. Passing the savings on to you...!
Think of the dual actuating pads though! Easy to adjust when you're drunk and have rotor rub ha.

@Pete4Eyes Cheers for the tip. Might be in touch!

No sweat man, think you have my number. Just drop us a text.
Also, Ali, awesome bike. Can't wait for my practical bike to be completed.
I bought a cheapo China carbon disc fork through AliExpress (and wasn't charged and VAT, so it cost about £30) that I can show you if you want to go down that route.
Mine has no mudguard or rack bosses (you could bend some long P-clips), but there are other options with bosses and better cable routing than mine. If you get the right seller and don't mind waiting a couple of weeks, could turn up free of charge and be a total bargain!
Mine's to be modified (minor shaping of alu crown area to match head tube) so I can run a disc on my FGTT bike.
