Certainly pretty cool as a scientific achievement, I don't know how complicated it is but I'm guessing relatively. Not quite sure whether I'd use it though. Certainly might open up new ways to approach graffiti.

I assumed this would be a whiteish paint so didn't bother watching the vidjo at first. But it's invisible unless headlights shine on it and looks like it can be applied to flexible stuff like clothes. This makes it all kinds of cool and clever.
Life paint is a shit name tho.

Agree on shit name. It lasts 1 week after applying it, I just hope it washes off completely so to don't leave any invisible layers on gears and clothes...
As well, I hope it won't be pricey. -

saw this yesterday via itsnicethat, didnt realise it washes off after a week...

This, or something similar, was available last year not branded as Volvo. It was very effective but as has been said it does not last very long. It was also expensive at £20+ a can.
They had a version which you could spray on animals without any unpleasant side effects which they marketed to stables etc -
• #8
A quick Google finds that they now do a permanent spray
-

The can looks exactly the same as the Albedo100 Invisible Bright, probably Volvo is just rebranding their product but spending loads of money on marketing and viral publicity.

The more I think about this, the more I'm erring on the side of it being fuel for victim blaming.

"I didnt see him because he hadnt submerged his entire self in reflective paint"
-
• #12
Basically.
-

That's how I see it.
It's essentially a new way to try and absolve motorists of their responsibility to drive safely.
'LifePaint.' What's the alternative? DeathPaint, AskingForItPaint, DeservedItPaint?
So now we need not just lights, reflectors, specialist high-viz and reflective clothing and helmets, we now need reflective paint? How about people just drive properly? The biggest danger to cyclists in't cycling, it's environment and attitudes of others and that's what we should be concentrating on.

"We've found that by carrying a LifePaint with us and spraying it into the eyes of every driver who was looking down at their phone while driving, we've reduced the chances of being injured during our commute by 48%. Thank you Volvo, thank you!"

This popped up on my facebook feed over the weekend.
I'm not exactly sure how paint will save anyone's life. The graffiti thing has some appeal though...
