It took me a whole evening to fit the front one, rear was faster but it was pre drilled from last time it was fitted... So I can't judge...

I don't mind if it takes me all day, as long as they don't rattle or rub, and have a half decent line around the tyre, I'll call that success.

Easy my friend, easy.
Can't rush these things, contemplation is 80% of the task at hand, at the moment we're still in a contemplation phase. -

When I was doing the cockpit cabling over Christmas, assessing length, routes, I had the bike in the living room and was staring at it during meals (it is a bit of a complicated cabling situation, I nearly swapped the front and rear brakes a la française), my mother in law was looking at me worried I'd completely lost it...

Zen Mudguarding...
Bolts on, bolts off, bolts on, bolts off. -
• #658
I had my mine on a bike stand in the front room over xmas too, slowly doing all the little jobs that I trusted myself with. More out of obsession and over-excitement than contemplation though, if I'm honest.
I definitely lost it a bit!

I'm hoping I'll mock it up tonight, check fitment and guard/tyre line, leave it to sit overnight, and shear force of will will get them fitted whilst I'm asleep, either that or the fairies will do it for me.

Sounds reasonable to me!

But have you contemplated it yet?
Looking good so far : ) -

I've been contemplating their fitment since I ordered them, I visualised the fitment, foresaw the potential problem areas, revisualised the fitment ironing out the problems, got home, and had at it!
Altogether a zen like experience, fit, observe, remove, adjust, fit, observe, remove, adjust........
Shower then pizza time, may install the rear tonight, then again I may leave it til tomorrow morning. -

It also helped that @Cupcakes sent me this very useful link last weekend, read it a few times this week,

Excellent fit.

Yeah, I'm really pleased with it, could maybe go a tad tighter with the line, but I'll run em as and see how I get on, hope the rear goes on as nicely, bit more to it though, as I'll need to drill the guard for the brake bridge mount.

Good job!

Ta, had to re-radius it a couple of times, but the line is pretty good now. I can highly recommend VO guards to anyone looking to fit metal guards to their bicycle, rock solid once everything is tightened up, as long as a bit of patience and common sense is employed, they go on very nicely indeed.

Looks good. I wouldn't go closer. A bit of space is always good as guards can rattle when passing over brutale pavé

Ah, you've ridden the back lanes of Cheshire, at the moment they make Paris Roubaix look smooth.

All these perfect settings make me want to rework my rear mudguard...
-
• #673
...... it's made me consider redoing the front one, but I figure if summat is going to get sucked up between guard and tyre, it's most likely going to happen on the front, so a little bigger gap is ok.
Non mudguard related task for today, make myself a saddle mounted rear light holder, off to the hardware shop for supplies. -

So good mate.
You tease! No chance, I've learnt my lesson, mudguards are to be fitted when there is no work the day after.
I have to clean my All City Mr Pink on Friday evening, once that's done I'll take the SKS mudguards off the Varonha, have a mock up/test fitting of the Zeppelins, then crack on first thing Saturday morning, taking my time and getting them to fit as best as I possibly can.
