  • Up down up down left right left right B A start

  • Living situation sorted now, yesterday was my first day free of moving or cleaning stuff (non bicycle related stuff at that).
Going to fit the LX one onto Winston 1 this morning, then go for my first ride of the crimble period.

  • What does that unlock, or just infinite lives?

  • I used this to get 30 lives in Contra and Life Force, but a quick Google says that this was the Konami code so unlocked something in like 30 of their Nintendo games. Also I should have added 'select start' for two players

  • Ah, never did Nintendo, just played Sonic on the megadrive.

  • Bit of patching today.

  • I absolutely love that tofu wokerati patch!

  • I see. Cheers!

  • Due to a change in life priorities, and how I spend most of my free time, one or both of my Varonhas will be going up for sale shortly.
Yes I'll probably regret it to start with, but needs must n all that shit.
Not sure which one to sell first, so if anybody is interested in either one let me know via message, and I can give details of what's for sale and how much I want.
    Will post in classifieds soon.

  • sad to hear. Hope you are ok. Be good to see them stay in the forum.

  • Nah, not that sad, it's only stuff.
    I'm all good, ta
Only riding I seem to be doing is the commute to/from work, and two custom bikes seems overkill for that
I'm thinking of buying a small van, summat I can throw an air mattress in the back of, and bugger off on a Friday evening after work, I've really been enjoying walking/hiking for a while , so would like to go further afield.
It would be nice if they stayed in the forum, let's see what happens when I throw the classifieds up.

  • Sorry to hear you're selling up.

Whats the ST and TT length on the bikes?

  • From memory (it is pretty shit though, so I'll measure both tomorrow) seatube is about 520mm c-t on both, and toptube should be around 535/540mm.
Will confirm measurements for both frames tomorrow morning.

Don't be sorry, it's just priorities change, I'll be happy if someone buys one or both, and really enjoys riding it/them, I think I probably enjoy the design process (as much as the word process can be used in my case) and builds more than riding, though they do ride bloody nicely. I just like a project, building stuff up, taking it apart, rebuilding.
Depending what happens with these I may grab an early nineties rockhopper my pal has sat doing nowt (been offered it for a few days labouring for him), fix that up in a hipster fashion, and have a slightly tatty commuter.

  • Honestly I think you will regret selling the best bike on LFGSS.

But I am looking forward to the details, I think they're not far off my size.

Provisional dibs on the pink one :-)

  • Ooof! You do realise the price has just gone up if you rate it that highly.
Regrets, I have had a few, and pretty fuckin sure I'll have a few more, but as stated, it's just stuff, pretty nice stuff, but just stuff, and if I ever find a need for another niche bike, there's always Crust (or I could just stipulate to the buyer/s that I have first dibs from henceforth).
I'm 5'8" if that helps you with sizing.

  • @MrBaklava and @Five-Hats here are the measurements for each:

    Winston 1: 700c wheels, HT 130mm, TT c-c 530mm, ST c-c 500mm, ST c-t 520mm

    Winston 2: 650b wheels, HT 140mm, TT c-c 530mm, ST c-c 500mm, ST c-t 520mm

If it's of use to either of you, I'm 5'8", run a 100mm stem with an inline seat post, and 165mm cranks, and from centre of bb to saddle rails is 680mm, from centre bb to top of saddle 720mm. Obviously depends on what cranks and saddle you use, but I include these measurements just as a reference.

  • Winston 1

  • Winston 2 (seat post and stem aren't what I used when I rode it last, just me twating about with stuff I had in the shed).

  • support imo, can always buy more bikes, all bikes ride the same etc etc

feel the same about my wanker cross check, rather be doing other things and it's too nice to use functionally/ lock up at the pub and not worry - so will eventually go somewhere

  • Yeah, sad/not sad to see you move these on. This thread is a testament to your love of the project and a nice expression of your own personal bike style. I enjoyed it just as much when it was some surlys and a genesis. Rockhopper sounds a good change of pace.

I’ve cooled on the bike projects for a while, but am just as bad with cameras and lenses. Currently awaiting delivery of a new lens the same version of which I only sold two months ago. Not regrets though, I didn’t want it then, and I do now. All this stuff just keeps life interesting and fun.

Hope they stay in the forum and we can still get updates in other threads.

  • Both lovely bikes - have enjoyed dipping in here to see how they both progressed, but yeah it's just stuff at the end of the day & priorities change.

(Please ensure the first one with the raw finish is astronomically priced to deter me)

  • Just had a discussion at the lbs about the love of the project, the hand ringing and sweaty brow inducing decisions that need to be made, the endless nights staring at the ceiling, thinking "for fucks sake I have to be in work in four hours, why am I obsessing about 10 or 15mm of spacers?"

These are the things I thrive on,then there's that final glorious day!

The kettle goes on, the tea goes in the pot, the rollie gets lovingly crafted, tools are checked and neatly placed on the table, the frame is in the workstand (with place holder seat post - don't wanna mark the one that's actually being used)................. and breathe, the build begins.

That's how I get my kicks friends.
