Even if London followed suit it would make little difference, 10% above the local average is already far more than most people can afford as the unbelievably expensive places artificially increase the average. Plus, rent caps are stable door/horse bolted solution, it's fine for Berlin where rent is already dirt cheap and there are an abundance of properties.

Looks like the filth raided the Black Cap occupation in Camden this morning, couple of vans outside with several smug looking cops milling around outside.

Still gutted about black cap, it was a great place to drink.

An article with fairly comprehensive statistics, although not London-specific:

Hatton Cross is a very reasonable £324/m. Why does no one want to live there?

Because your house is on the second runway.

Surely you could sell that as 'easy global airline connections'?

Another one of these politically-advertised squats, which probably won't last long, like all the other recent ones:

Also, is anyone going to this tomorrow? 12 noon at Lincoln's Inn Fields:
https://www.rt.com/uk/327979-housing-bill-protest-london/
Like all these protests, it is unlikely to achieve anything on its own, but all you can hope for is to get some sort of momentum going. I've increasingly felt the need recently to go to these marches again after not really having been since the horrid disappointment of the protests over Iraq. I'm under no illusions as to their effectiveness, but what's been going on during the last few years and what's going on at the moment just makes your blood boil.

Nicht ich, aber ja.

Oliver, reading RT, I'd have thought better of you!

Er? I don't have the foggiest notion what RT is (or indeed why it's objectionable). I just wanted some link to post so took one of the first from the search results.
