  • Bad link, but yes. They are very lovely, but unfortunately a bit too heavy for this particular build project!

  • Nice! Not sure if I had my bike made before they sold those aero forks or if I could not afford them at the time!!

I should check the date, I still have the original invoice.

  • So.... I guess the question Borek is 'are they for sale'....!

If yes, are they threadless ahead type?

    I am in Bristol too.

  • I'm afraid they are not for sale. Pop down to Argos with your bike and see what they say?

  • The condor frameset you used last year is one of my favourites but is no where near as rad as the argos!

Looking forward to seeing this finished!

  • Got a Kalloy Uno stem from eBay, the horrible graphics came of quickly with a bit of acetone, and it is bang on the claimed weight. feels a bit cheap though, (it was) and I'm not hugely confident in how stiff its going to be. will update after ive ridden it up a hill.

  • I think quite a lot of folk have used those stems not read of one failing

  • have a lovely brand new Royce chainring that weighs 57g
    45t 144BCD 3/32"

i picked it up from VeloSolo NOS but found something better suited to my build.

  • Thanks for the offer but 45t is too big and pretty much all 144bcd cranks are really heavy. I'm currently on the look out for some 130bcd slightly older dura ace cranks. Anything pre hollowtech if anybody has anything in their parts bin?

Forks are on the way, got a good deal on some Minimals from eBay. I'm still deciding what to do tyre wise, unsure whether to save all the grams possible or just run a reasonably light but slightly puncture proof tyre for peace of mind.

  • Why not Sram Red? Would have thought pre-hollowtec DA would be similarly weighty to track cranks.

  • They will be way lighter than track cranks, cheaper than something modern, and look a bit better too. The Dura Ace 7410 cranks I used last year were about 550g, assuming BB is about 200, thats 750 total, not bad at all really!

I've got some force cx1 cranks, but the chainline would be irritating, as would needing to buy new chainrings, and finding something else to put on my cross bike for a few months

    Noiser, I've PMed you

  • 530g

    big

let me know as someone else keen too.

  • 495g - 46g chainring =
    449g

    big

the 70s track cranks are significantly lighter...

  • yep

  • That is a bit surprising, although I had only looked at modern track cranks most of which are quite weighty.

I'm going to stick with 130 bcd as I already have a load of chainrings, I'm assuming those campagnolo cranks are actually 135bcd? so will keep an eye out for some Shimano ones. thanks anyway

  • those campagnolo cranks are actually 135bcd?

Yep and didn't you get the memo re. long cranks: 1985 called...

  • Hip closure angle is hardly going to be an issue on a HC bike.

  • not really related to the hill climb build, but it was put on hold saving for this for the TT setup!

  • So good

  • So wheels are done, I went for Tufo s3 pro track tyres, they are light at 195g each, but feel plenty tough enough, and were cheap.

Obviously ignore the cranks/gear ratio/steel fork/thomson bits. it weighs bang on 7kg in this picture, and should squeeze under 6 by the time I am done. I have had a minor setback in that the fork I bought ages ago and had hidden away is in fact 1 1/8"... Doh. If anybody can help me source a suitably light full carbon 1" fork then it would be much appreciated!

    Possible contender for a fork?

It's an easton ec90 aero full carbon fork, in case you don't have access to BR. Weight around 360g apparently.

Ah, loooks like @Ed_J was selling them on here a while back

  • What are the wheels?

  • Mack hubs, Wolber profil 18 rims, too many spokes.
