How are the tyres btw are they road tyres or cross?
(Just read through your thread) your bike and adventures looks amazing!

The Paselas are touring tyres, so they roll well. Still do great on gravel and even off-road as long as it's dry. I'm really happy with them, cheap too.
Thanks!

Great bike and great trips, very envious!
I know weight isnt the point but roughly what do you reckon it weighs? Looks like it shouldnt be too ba d. My orange rx9 weighs a ton -

Thanks. I never actually got around to weight it with that setup.
I've been busy with renovating my flat since I got back, but yesterday I finally got around to unpack and and start setting it up in its second coming.
Just had a quick spin around the park and I can't wait to bring it to the woods!

Really starting to enjoy this setup. No rattling and you can go anywhere. Managed to bring everything I needed for a sleep-over in the forest tonight. No tent, just a mat and sleeping bag.
One bidon with water, one with tools and one with wine. Perfect.

Absolutely loving that.

This makes my cross-check look antiquated and dull, but in an inspiring way rather than a fuck-me-should-have-got-a-different-bike way...
Those trips in the woods look beautiful, glad you're enjoying it! -

Now that how it should be.
The only thing left is a medium framebag as it look like there's enough room to fit with the two bottles.

Hey! Also jut bought an AWOL and going trough a similar process of upgrading the bike. I am planing to do some trips with the bike but feel that the Ortlieb Front Rollers are a bit too small to my taste. Do you feel that it would be possible to mount a set of Back Rollers to the front rack?
I would also love a close-up on how you have mounted the Fly Evo to the bike. Seems like I will need to bend the connecting rod and then make some sort of a clamp myself. I presume that's how you did it.
Thanks!

I've never tried mounting BR on a low-rider rack, nto sure how close they would get to the floor?
You can mount BRs on a higher front rack bu it puts the weight up quite high and I only ever do it as an emergency thing for short trips across town etc. as it starts to affect the handling in a detrimental way.
eg: the below, which was an absolute pig to ride!
I think perhaps better to look at what kit you actually need and split the load between smaller front panniers on a low rider and a behind saddle bag or rack top dry bag at the back?
I've also got a fly on the back of mine, mounting is dead simple, bend the stay and then it bolts directly to a threaded eyelet on the underside of the 'brake' bridge.

Yea, like @NotDotMatt says, it's quite simple to fit the Fly. I couldn't find any very good photos, but I attached one.
I haven't tried, but I think the BRs would be too big on the front - at least to my taste. And yea, if you already have them on the back and feel you need more space, you should look into cutting down on what you are bringing with you. I think a lot of people carry too much. Put the tent or a big dry top between the BRs on the back if you need more space. The front rack has a max load of 15 kg btw.

2016 AWOL's come with a nice front rack. Solid feel and can fit panniers too.

You're right, a lots better, and so much easier to use as an everyday bike that way.
The fact it's alu mean it should be lighter than the other offering like the Soma.

Y U NO SELL RACK SPECIALIZED?!
It is literally perfect...

Hopefully they will, but I'm a little concern the lack of mounts it have, a single bolt on both side and a small adjustable plate on the fork crown.

I've been waiting for that rack all year. My friend has it on his Awol x Poler and it's very nice.
It should be available in the US this week, according to Hellhommus on Insta.
Looks perfect to just strap gear or dry bags where the panniers should be.

Thanks for the replies @larsenroad and @NotDotMatt. I have ordered the Soma Porteur Rack. Like @edscoble I have some concerns with the durability of the Pizza Rack. Anyway, next step is to figure out what panniers will fit best, the 2016 Ortliebs look nice but I love to 'old-fashioned' system that Crosso still uses a lot. The plan is to have just a set of panniers on the front and the small tent goes on the Fly.

Was worried about that too, but we had a display model to send back so we tested it with some loaded up panniers and a whole bunch of camera gear on top. Nice and sturdy, though that's not saying much since only rode it for 5 minutres.

Another question; this looks like a great setup: Not very scientifically but I was trying to figure out if these are Ortlieb Front- or Back Rollers by comparing the size with my own frame. According to Ortlieb the Back is 42cm high and the Front Roller is 30cm. So these are Back Rollers right?
So good! Currently in Berlin. Will post more when I get home. Meanwhile check #ferielyf on insta.
