Apparently not!

He liked the colour of my money, took it and has now disappeared. What is it at the moment with people on this forum shafting each other? Seems rife!

A minority will damage the integrity of the forum....which is sad!

So thats at least 3 ppl who have been suckered. Be sure to open paypal dispute and make it a "claim" at once. With enough claims on his account surely he will loose out pretty fast.
He hasent notified paypal anything yet for at least 4 days since i made my case a claim. Guess he is not going to challenge it.

Yeah claim made also

Hello, same situation here - paid 90 gbp for a wheelset, money claimed and no more info from him. I wonder if i should wait a little or open a case too?
Tried to call him a few times (he provided me with some number), nobody answered.

• #34
Open a case...NOW!!
-
• #35
Okay, i just did it. I still hope that he will come back or something and things will be fine.

Dont get your hopes up! He lied about recieving payments, this is not a sloppy seller, this is a deliberate scam.

How can he lie about recieving payments when they're paid through PayPal and there is a clear electronic trail?
Surely with 4 or 5 people all claiming the same thing PayPal should immediately block his account, refund the payments and act in accordance with the horrendous amounts of money they charge people to use their services, and implement the services that people pay for?!!?!

Sry i was vague. He lied to me about allrdy recieving payment for an item i ended up paying for as well.
Dont even think he will contest the claims with pp. He has 3 or 4 days left on my claim, still silent

I wonder why people still do this kind of stuff? Isn't paypal linked directly with his bank account? Or somebody else's he knows?
This kind of stuff may have some bad consequences with credit history later, doesn't it?

Im not sure how it works now but when i first got paypal i dident have to identify myself before i recieved a larger amount to my account at which point id have to send in pics of passport and some other stuff.
Before that i had recieved plenty of smaller sums as i recall

Oh, right, stupid me, somehow i thought that everyone must link their bank account to their paypal account.

It actually looks like the same seller (MO, style of writing etc) as this thread:
http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/188313/#comment8006898
which appears to be the same picture of an SMP which this seller took money from both me and badboybjorn for. I've also got a pending dispute on paypal now, just like everyone else... i suppose this is just cheaper than a payday loan for him?

The strange thing is, I had two separate conversations with him, one about the parts I was buying and one about the ridiculous EASTON frame in the photos! Seemed like a thoroughly normal human being, perhaps even a nice one at that! Guess I was wrong, not normal, not nice :(

So paypal took my side and i will be given my 60gbp back. Wonder if they take that from his account or if its out of paypals pocket? When does one become a target for possible fraud investigations and by which agency since its cross boarders? Wonder how it works or if ppl can just continue to do this without even getting a slap on the wrists.

• #45
Ah good - I look forward to getting my £25 back aswell!
-
• #46
Out of his account....good you got your money back.
-
• #47
Resolution in my favour today - make sure you claim if you have been ripped off by this guy!
-
• #48
Well done....how long has the process taken you?
-
• #49
About a month in all - I could have escalated it a lot sooner though - was a very good job I checked back as I would have expected a notification from PayPal saying that I only had a specific amount of time to escalate, and that that time kicked in the moment I first registered the claim. Where there's no further action on the claimant's part, perhaps if he claimant forgot to escalate the claim within the time limit (16 days I think), the verdict automatically falls in favour of the accused. The claim process is all a bit too "if you really want to follow this through then be our guest, however we're not really going to help you, keep you updated on progress or prompt you to take the next steps in the process (as it's likely to cost us money....)" The process was all somewhat (purposefully I fear) unexplained however I can't complain as the money is refunded and the case found in my favour.
