  • What sizes tyres is that? Clearance look tight!

  • That's a 23mm conti gp4000. If I recall correctly they size up a bit big and its on a narrow rim so that accentuates things.

The plan is to run 25mm open paves on 23mm rims which should be comfortable.

  • Yeah they occasionally sized up bigger than they claimed, so you're right about that.

The main concern is enough clearance for debris to pass through.

  • Eh, it's not so bad from a better angle!

  • You're right, first images probably compounded by the flash make it look very pre-apocalypse clearance.

  • Better pics to follow when light allows. Finished other than needing a new split link for the chain (and standard trimming of steerer tube)

  • This of course means I can start thinking about nicer wheels (possibly DT rims, or something else fashionably wide, to hope hubs). And I would like some king cages, but I'm not too fussed about that.

Hard to believe this took me a full year from idea to completion, but I guess that's what 3 rounds of general anaesthetic surgery and the following recovery do to a project.

  • It looks great; although I think removing some logos from the stem would finish it off nicely.

  • Probably about the best I can do in my flat for photos.

Tempted to agree about the stem graphics but life's feeling too short to bother right now!

  • Yes!

  • Gonna chuck some decent wheels on this, then. Hope x DTr460, 24 front 28 rear, as a balance between 'nice' and 'durable' which I feel is pretty much where the bike is sitting generally, unless anyone suggests an alternative option.

  • Haven't gotten the nice wheels yet, nor have I gotten better at taking photos, but I have fitted open pave tyres.

  • Just had a pleasant spin around doing laps of a local hill. This bike feels excellent. It's taken ages but the waiting is finally paying off as I'm back to good health and have decent roads nearby.

Next task realistically is to get chopping on the steerer.

  • Next task realistically is to get chopping on the steerer take a photo outside.

    ;-)

  • Hillclimb day.
