Just googled his name as you mentioned he is an LD rider and FUCK!
I raced with him on Saturday at Hillingdon; had a chat after race as well as both of our hands were fucking freezing and we were hogging the only radiator in the hallway. He told me he has to ride all the way back to Dalston after race .. We then realised we both ride same sized bikes and he has some serious bikes too.
This is fucking awful
RIP fellow rider -

RIP, so very sad to read this tonight

Oh no, I was hoping it wouldn't be @Akis . I remembered a PM conversation with him yesterday when the name was mentioned and I checked the database for the email, Googled, and found the surname and was just waiting, hoping, that it wouldn't be a person I'd spoken to. It makes it more real and upsetting.

This is not the thread for that comment... swiftly delete or we'll just ensure you can't post in Rider Down.

Removed, just seeking to understand what happened so we can learn to minimise the chance of this happening again. No blame apportioned or implied, just want us all to be cautious around left turns which seem to be high risk.

This is not the thread for that debate. You do not know the circumstances, and do not know that Akis was at fault, that he didn't look or have enough caution. You simply do not know. Speculation can upset family and friends, it can also affect any ongoing legal case that arises. Please edit your post to just the last line or I'll nuke and remove Rider Down privileges.

i don't agree with you as i feel my comment and its content is entirely relevant (unlike GL's, mind), however i shall edit accordingly.
threats aren't really necessary, nor i feel, in keeping with the SotF, vb.

R.I.P. Rider Akis.
So bad so bad. So sorry.

Very very very sad. I have ridden with Akis - a lovey guy. RIP dude.

It shouldn't make any difference, but it's always awful to hear of someone dying who loved cycling so much, first Stephanie and now Akis. Heartfelt condolences to all who knew him.

Really sad, even worse when it's someone you've bumped into, there but for the grace of God go us all. RIP
RIP Akis
My thoughts with all of his family and friends, especially @Crop and @Ericthehalfacyclist
Take care, all my LFGSS homies
