Any experiences with the Surly 1x1? Although I am 6'6 tall, it is appealing to me.

The more I look at the cooker the more I fancy one. Perfect for messing about in the local woods this winter.
Wondering whether the single speed would eventually bug me though and I'd be better going for the cooker 1.
(But the 0 is much prettier)

That really depends on what you plan to do with it.
A few hours mucking about in the local woods = win
Multi-day ride in mountainous terrain = maybe not so much

Kona Unit comes with an alternative dropout for a derailleur set-up.

You can put 5 sprockets on a hope singlespeed hub, but probably not worth it.

Yeah, I had considered the 5spd as an option for my Talbot, but ditched the rear derailleur cable guides at the last moment.

What is it with these upwardly curving top tubes?

I do like the seat stays on that ^ Sklar though.

Good point.
BN, it would be just for mucking about locally but fancy a spare set of 29's with a cassette so I could use it for around town occasionally, and not be spinning out at 12mph

New one also looks rad. I wonder if it has clearance for 27.5 +?

2.25"? I've got to get me some of these!

2.4"!
Can't wait to try them out! Can't get out this weekend unfortunately, you taken your new bike out for an off-road ride yet?

- Dropper seatpost
- Stubby stem

- Narrow handlebars
Pick the odd one out...

This morning's woe: failed to remove my old Bushnell EBB to fit the shiny new one. Would only move about 1cm out of the shell.
Luckily as well as a new BB70, I bought a shiny Saint 68/73mm BB so the extra length of the drive side cup let me reach some undamaged thread.
Will see if it stays put this weekend. Riding over Sutton Bank tonight to get to Helmsley for SSUK15 tomorrow.

I'm gonna say yes, belts should be black.
Also that white and purple thing looks like a kids bike. I think Evans used to sell something with thereabouts the exact same colour scheme.
That last cotic is rad though.
I'm imagining it'll be a world of difference, previously I had a very worn Werewolf LT on rear which meant on any relatively steep climb I'd just start spinning the rear which got a bit irritating! Happy to sacrifice a bit of speed for that, hopefully will get out to Epping next week at some point to try them out.
