Had a look and I've got nice 17T and 18T and shit 15T and 16T cogs.
Only short chainring bolts kicking around though.

To be fair it's probably about the same as a Gates set up, but without the cost of the frame mod.
The difference is that Gates have been making belts for a long time and don't look to be going out of business any time soon. -

But for the money you've got to REALLY want a belt drive if you don't already have a split frame.

Now you're just being fussy

Yeppers, this is exactly my point.
I remember looking many years ago into commuter bikes with belts because I got fed up of the dirty, gritty chains riding London winters but buying a whole bike just for a belt left me a bit "meh". Now I wax my chains I've reduced the dirty chain issue so unless belts become as ubiquitous as chains (unlikely in my lifetime) I'll probably never bother.

Love it.

I think longevity was one of the appeals of belts for me but I realised the other day I have a fixed cog on one of my bikes that I bought from Brick Lane when I was in London for the ehbpc in what was that...2009? It doesn’t even have any visible wear on it yet and it’s not like it’s not been used, at points it’s been in pretty much daily use on bikes I’ve used for commuting. I just use cheap chains and change them regularly.

I maybe fancy a change of bars on my ssmtb.
Think I'd like something like a Stooge moto bar but they are sold out everywhere, anyone got any other suggestions?
-

Good width.
I think those are more swept than the Stooge ones but the bars I have on just now are pretty swept back so should be alright.
For that price I think I might as well try em.

I've got them - sweep feels like a good balance, coming from Geoff bars. I was going to cut them down but don't think I will.

coming from Geoff bars.
That’s good to hear, I have a couple pairs of swept back on one bars, one of which are Geoff bars I think, and was looking at them yesterday thinking they might be too swept.

Soma Dream? Put a set on my 1x1 the other day. Seem like a good balance of rise/sweep, will take them out for a proper ride later in the week

On the subject of sweep, those Kyotes actually put your hands the farthest forward out of them, the Stooge Moto and the Soma Dream.

Yes they seem to be unique amongst the bendy, sorry, alt bars that they do extend reach

I stuck a pair of the On-one OG V2 on my dad-biek-hybrid thing to replace a pair of Geoff's - looked at those Kyote's, think they were out of stock everywhere at the time, the OG's are a bit less sweepty / slightly narrower / bit more forward than Geoff's - ended up sticking them on my hardtail & they work great there too, nice bit of flex in them which I really noticed clattering round Glentress last weekend with little finesse

Started looking at the bars I have and got distracted by this set of drops.
Drops and 2.8” tyres?
These are 42s, would probably go wider and flared if I was really going to go this route.

Old school dropper post that resets height with a spring?
-
• #3350
Yeah it’s a Hite Rite.
Just a spring really but it keeps the seat aligned and puts it back to the correct height which lifting it by hand doesn’t.
Definitely worth a shot. My setup was entirely using stuff from the parts bin and it was fine.
