Hate to go all "amey" on everyone, and build a bike around one component but I have a 29" wheelset that I built for a project, that I didn't complete. So I have a fairly nice 29" single speed wheelset that I want to use on a single speed mountain bike. The main problem I have with horizontal drop outs is the awkward "getting the wheel out/taking the brake off" when you puncture.
My current fav is thisIt has an eccentric BB, and looks alright - does anyone have any better suggestions to consider?

Caliper inside the rear triangle seems to be increasingly popular and overcomes this. My Day One has this and I don't touch the brake when I remove the wheel but I did have to change the brake caliper in order to get heel clearance (my heel was hitting the cable arm on the original Promax mechanical caliper, I fitted a Spyre but hydro would have been another solution).

Just...don't puncture? Tubeless the shit out of it and cross fingers. Works for me.
Jinxed self hugely I know
EBBs are sweet if you don't mind the smidgen of extra weight and TLC they required.

@M_V my pompetamine had that and when I needed to derail the chain to remove the wheel it was a pain, because you had to remove the brake to be able to slide the wheel forward...
@MisterMikkel - I'll have a look
@Howard - that was Plan B - I have two tandems so I know my way round an eccentric BB
@negaatio will probably put a bouncy fork on wheel I can afford one...

I ran a Simple with horizontals and found no issues with caliper alignment when I replaced the wheel after a puncture. If you run a tug you'll need to adjust that but that also was easy enough.
I've not run an EBB but I'd love a Swift if I didn't have my Superfly.SSMTB is highly addictive (and painful). You will be amazed what you can get up if you keep on going until you fall over.

My issue is that I fall over at the bottom.

I'm just amazed by how low a gearing you need to keep it all manageable

Totally forgot about the Brother Cycles Big Bro.. That has slider dropouts as well.

I looked at that too, but all the mounts kinda put me off, I wanted this bike more for schralpin' the gnarrr rather than carrying the gnarrrrr with me

Yeah it does get a bit spinney. Bit like being a contractor - the only time the effort is right is is when you're headed for too much or too little
