  • I just can't really justify £75 on a new jersey

It is £10 less than that... it is £65.

The original thread about it stated that they may be as high as £75, but in fact we worked hard to make sure they cost less than that.

  • Saying "I fancy a jersey" and parting with £65-£90 are very different things. Value for money aside it is a big sum for a lot of people. It's kind of what is stopping me from pulling the trigger. That and my inability to choose between club and pro, club is fine for me but pro has got to be better, I mean it's pro init? And I don't want to look like the poor cousin when everyone else is all proed up. Gonna have to wait and see how much my granny sells for on ebay before I make the decision.

Just out of nosiness what sort of split is there between club and pro on the orders so far?

Three club jerseys for every one pro jersey.

  • And the pro isn't 3 times as expensive so simple economics dictates you buy the pro

  • At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I think price has quite a lot to do with it in this specific instance.

I never spent that much on a cycling clothing item so I'd agree with this, but knowing the whole thing is designed so that it absorbs club subscription is what makes me see the purchasing justifiable and why I decided to get one (plus I'd originally put my name on the list)... also I have not made a donation to the forum for a while, was time to contribute a bit!

  • Well I've chosen club fit, there's no point getting a pro jersey then donning a pair of cutoff jeans and a trilby. I only want the rear pockets for my hip flask and fig rolls.

  • What about those with beach body afflictions?

Does this fit non standard cyclist types?

  • I think its a jersey for people who ride bikes?

  • Say that to my face!

  • I would but you don't come out any more or answer my calls

    (obvious burn is obvious)

  • your obvious

  • its too cold to ride bikes.

  • Sorry to keep asking dumb questions. Is the Milltag sizing chart for club or race fit? I have a 38" chest so I think I need a medium, but unsure which fit to go for.

  • @Velocio any way to change order? Think club will be more suited to me than pro jersey at the moment.

  • IIRC the sizing chart is for the club.

  • I met Ed from Milltag yesterday and tried on both samples in medium. (I am chest 37"). The pro jersey is definitely a higher quality product, lighter, nicer construction, but a much much closer fit than the pro. Unsure of which to go for. The pro version makes me slightly embarrassed of my winter gut.

  • I can swap your order, or rather... I can cancel the existing order and you have just enough time to place a new order for the club jersey.

PM me your order number and it will be done.

  • Thanks sent.

  • David, I know it's unusual for but I've ordered pro but requested an added inch on the arms circumference. If it's possible, it would be greatly greatly appreciated. I know it's unlikely but I'm hopeful.

  • Ordered 2x.

  • Ordered, Simon has requested one for his birthday

  • I'm one of the people that put my name down and hasn't ordered. I'm hesitant about posting, because I don't want to complain. I don't think I am complaining?

But I suspect these reasons are common - the list was a while ago and I have less disposable cash than I did. The payday ordering window is greatly appreciated, but given it was the January payday, my bank account is still less healthy than usual. I'm (never say) never going to race - I liked the idea of having an lfgss jersey, and of supporting the club. As it happens to have turned out, the design is too similar to my existing forum-identifiable jersey (Ladies, 2012) to usefully fill a niche for me. So, I regret that I will not be ordering one (at least not this time).

Here's possibly the constructive bit: I'd still like to support the club. As I understand it, general forum donations are kept separate? At the moment you can buy a jersey, or you can register for (free) club membership. Is there any mileage in being able to buy the club-income cost of the jersey, without having to buy the jersey? Or being able to choose the amount on the currently £0 product in the shop? Is there a principle against this, (or not worth it because of low demand).

We aren't taking donations directly into the club at the moment. I'm a little hesitant as I haven't fully researched how to handle that given that the club is a CIC (Community Interest Company) and we haven't completed the CASC stuff. i.e. I don't know about the Gift Aid claim-back stuff, and how to account for donations prior to CASC registration, etc.

LFGSS donations are currently ring-fenced for server costs, and do not go the club. They just sit in a PayPal account and I have a PayPal debit card that then pays the bills. This was it just avoids me altogether. There's currently £360 in that account, and that's fine as the costs are much lower nowadays (Microcosm did deliver a reduction in costs).

Eventually this stuff should be merged... but right now it hasn't been. Selling stuff is easy, taking donations has a bit more complexity to it.

  • Yes that's how I understood it, and I think it makes sense to keep it separate. But all the club income could be managed through selling stuff (labelled lfgss.cc) in the shop, even if the product is nothing?
