Someone's going to have to send something to Rohloff directly and see whether or not it takes forever
Can you? I think my colleague contacted Rohloff and was pointed/pushed towards this dealer.

So it’s not really getting the same amount of use as say a Rohloff on a road bike or that. The Rohloff is mounted inside the frame of a bike kinda hidden from a lot of the usual shit.
Having stripped it today, I think the Rohloff ring looks ok, the aluminium one bolted to the carrier is defo past it best and I’m going to renew the freewheel at the back too.
I might get the Rohloff ring too just to be safe and I’m gonna order a service kit for the Rohloff too.
Hopefully it doesn’t have to go off to Germany that really wouldn’t be ideal and warranty wise it’s probs about 15 years old so I doubt it’s under warranty now!
I’ve attached some images of bike and the Rohloff!

That is mad and cool

What are the cables like? Stiff? Is the tension set correctly too so there’s not too much slack?
Sometimes we’d get incomplete shifts from dodgy cabling
When was the last oil change?
-

To get it to shift right you need to pull the cables internally tight as fuck then bolt the outers!
The last oil change was years ago at least 10 but tbf it’s not be rode that much.
I think the slipping at standing up putting power down is to do with that 24t chainring and the new chain!
I’m gonna replace all the parts apart from the small steel Rohloff cog and hopefully it sorts it and get an oil kit too for it!

I worry that this could be flawed logic. The one that I was inside of, which had basically been round the world, was pretty spotless inside so I don’t think the service intervals are based upon expected ingress of “shit”.
You should be able to remove the cables and part of the shift box leaving a little hex ‘stub’(?) that you should be able to turn to shift the hub into each gear. If you can do that with the hub in place in the bike and test ride it in each gear then it would be a way of eliminating or conforming the shifting hardware as the source of your problems.
The 24t ring looks a bit worn but also like its teeth are plenty high enough to be retaining the chain adequately? Who knows, I’d be surprised if it was the source of your problem, let’s put it that way.

The shifting was never the issue, it was when pedaling that there was like a jut when standing and putting powder down as if something was skipping but it wasn't doing it when sat down. Hence how I dont think it is the hub and is probs one of the two chains or the freewheel that could be my issue and that's why I asked in here as folks seem to know more about them.

Sounds like number 6.

Yeah sorry I just meant that you might want to eliminate the shifter/cables holding the hub not quite in gear as a possible cause.
Edit: my colleagues hub didn’t shift as positively as it should have so it was good to be able to eliminate the cables mainly but also the shifter as being responsible.

I’m going to put a Rohloff on my touring bike.
I’d like some help with choosing sprocket and chainring.
I currently have a triple chainset, the rings are 46/34/24
The rear cassette is 11/36.On the flat I’ll usually ride the big ring and middle of the cassette.
On hills the lowest gear is great, I’m usually not using the very lowest gear but it’s good to have.
I rarely need a higher gear than I have. How do I go about getting the right size rings?
Thanks -

Or you can ho fully wild and keep the tripple ring and fd and use that with the Rohloff

So for anyone interested, serviced the Rohloff, chained the ring and changed the single speed freewheel on the back and it’s back to working like new.
Must have been at last the freewheel and the chainring that was causing the problem!

Thank you, I’ll play around with that now

What!
I’d love to ride that. -

Lol right? I never heard of running a FD with an IGH but now i kinda want to? I actually thought this is the whole purpose of a "schlumpf mountain drive" which is basically the most esoteric piece of german bike kit i have ever seen.

.
I've had similar experiences with the place I used as well. Someone's going to have to send something to Rohloff directly and see whether or not it takes forever so that we can get to the bottom of this.
