Hand-wringing over marginal gains imo is not hhs, but on the other hand, overspending on pointless bits is?

Ah, the old HHSRB conundrum...
Expensive | Improves performance | Looks good
You can only choose 2...

HHSRB is not about saving watts.
Exactly. TT thread is thataway -> ->

Expense and efficiencies only serve to take away from the hhs aethos. Aesthetics is the only criteria - doing so with minimum funds even more hh.
This thread has been in steady decline for some time now. Let's kill it and put it out of it's misery. One can sign up to instagram for this content.

OSPW is extravagant latest tech, with questionable functional or aesthetic value. HHSRB in my book. Says it right here.
I don’t bring up efficiencies in defence of HHSRB status. But rather for public record.

Since when has HHSRB been about pure aesthetics?! These are not elegant, beautiful bikes. They are brutalist bling.

Do hipsters even ride bikes anymore?

I've read somewhere that most savings come form less tension on the cage, savings from the pulleys itself are like 0.2 watts.
Firmly believing this since it aligns with my views on stupid pulleys and chains too short as a bonus. -
• #9463
Though I agree it's HHSRB since it may achieve not much a benefit for worse shifting and loads of cash. A bit like ENVE stems, they're daft and expensive and that's what is about.
-
• #9464
am not sure OSPW bring anything essential to an hh build... a dispensable add-on
carabo's undisputed champion trek is the HH epitome, and does so without borrowing guilty pro-gear

That’s the classic HH chain silhouette. Bollocks to your OSPWs.

OSPW are NSFHHRB

I asked about thread-approved chain angle before and was told it should be horizontal. I agree with the above.
-
• #9474
horizontals.

I don’t begrudge them as a concept to save 0.2w but there’s something pleasingly HH about the angles of a chain outline when a bike is in 53x11 and the OSPWs ruin that aesthetic. Therefore they are not HH in my opinion.
HHSRB is not about saving watts.
