• Alot of cool stuff here!

this what i work with atm, from this 90's citybike mtb.

    to this..

  • Is that the original fork with a disk tab welded on? Is that safe?

Probably old news, but I happened across these today. Could be useful for anyone doing an 11sp. monster-X build, seems a cleaner solution than the shiftmate thing.

  • I thought I might post it here as well as the functional bikes thread, seeing as there is some overlap.

  • Stumbled across this on pedalroom. Looks like the work of a mad man. A brilliant mad man.

  • I love that sooooo much. Nothing wrong with mad...for crazies.

  • Put together some 650b wheels for the Vassago. Soon to come: better rack/basket, and some larger tyres.

  • antoher fork with og disc tab, this is a 100£ project so i dont buy stuff if not needed :)

looks like this after some montana rattlecan action!

  • Nice! Almost the same as mine.

  • Reminds of the "Gravel Mutt" article on Guitar Ted's blog way back when.

  • So I just mounted a massive set of moto-x handlebars.

  • Right on man. Wider bars and shorter stem is always the answer for these builds.

Bars are very similar to my Marin 700c

  • Your builds have been my inspiration.
Now I'll just have to wait and see how they fare on a congested cycling path on the way to UNI on a monday morning.

  • <3

Wide bars in the city makes you a better rider ;)

fun fact: bike handlebars wider than 700mm are illegal in denmark. So you can just say theyr moto x bars

  • Are you sure mine wasn't your inspiration? 😉

  • Sorry, yours are reasonable compared to the previous 2 bikes.

  • haha wtf, what happen if you got wider?

  • one step closer, looking forward to build racks for this project.

  • i think its a 1000kr fine! but @JesperXT knows more about it..

But i mean, none of my bikes have bars narrower than 700mm right now, and i commute in the city every day and never been fined. I think the cop needs to be a major dick to stop you for it

ps, im looking forward to when you build racks for that project..

  • well, certainly everyone else's are prettier than mine. I just mean that my Kona has been like that for 5 years now.

I am about to strip it and repaint and change the tyres for something a little faster rolling, so when it's all done I'll post another photo.

  • what marin is that? it is noice.

  • That's lovely.

I've got a bike kind of like this too. Though it's basically just an old mtb with drop bars.

  • I think I've been drooling over @t0-ster's bikes on pedalroom and instagram ever since a friend of mine found them on the danish forum fixie-king.dk - but I admit that my previous build with the albatross bars was eerily similar to your.
But you know what they say about great minds.

regarding the wide-bar-fines I'd think you probably be fined if a policeman spotted them being a problem in traffic, or if they turned out to be the reason for a crash.
But I've never been stopped or fined either, so I guess we'll see how it goes.
