  • Very pleased with my Vagabond so far. Did a 200km gravel randonné a couple of weeks ago. Big ones did really well on both gravel and tarmac. Picture is from this weekend's camping. Frame bag should land tomorrow, then I think I can ditch the rack on shorter outings.

  • Single ring? looks great.

  • Thanks! Yea it's a bit of a ghetto single ring setup at the moment...

  • Looks awsome. It really is a point of great shame for me that mine's still waiting to be built up. Good to know the Big ones fit, I was thinking of using them, interested to see how they last out. Shame it looks like there's no space left for fenders too.

  • Just do it! Fenders would most likely interfere with the seat tube. Better to go for 2" or something like that. I had Thunder Burts on before this and I think they would work. Big Ones are lovely! Fast and of course, very comfy. No idea on longevity thou...

  • Excellent looking bike. If I ever get my cross check back off the eldest may flog it and build a vagabond up. Love the stuff that comes out of Genesis.

  • I frikking love the thunder burts. Got them on Ghetto Tubless and the rear only just punctured from a big ass screw going right through the sidewall. Gonna switch to the even lighter furious fred and see how far that gets me.
Also...your setup is awesome. Get a narrow wide in there.

  • I need to build a shed first. Too many bikes, nowhere to keep them!

  • finished this bag today:

  • @negaatio nice bag! Is it made from waterproof material?
I'm planning something similar and have an old camo rucksack I plan to use as base. If it works out I might buy some decent material and do it again.

  • cordura 1000denier. Water might come through the seams (as I havent bothered taping them) or the zip (as I just used some metal one I had). The fabric in itself is sturdy and quite waterproof

  • also made this:

  • Nice work! Been thinking about doing something similar. But having no time nor space atm resulted in this thing instead.

  • How do you find the Alpkit bag? It's likely top of the Xmas list, but I've heard conflicting reviews. Also, which material is that as I know they have options.

  • I havent used it yet. But it Feels good and well made. Time will tell I guess. I went with the surgeon opening. The bag is quite small but I think this still makes it easier to pack and find stuff. Its in xpac vx21.

  • Is that a specialized pizza rack?

  • Nice. I was very tempted by one of those. Ended up using a blb rack basket with the stays chopped down and mounted up on the fork.

How are you getting on with the Schwalbe big ones? Have you set them up tubeless?

  • Joined the fat club this weekend (by buying a krampus, photos of which don't currently want to upload)

  • Yeah the pizza rack is a good match, altough it takes some fettling to mount it level (the stay is too short. I got the ILE Porteur bag also, makes for an easy commute and I reckon I can pretty much fit everything I need for an overnighter as well.

I think the Big Ones are lovely. Fast and obviously very comfy. I have the Liteskin version, 440 grams - pretty amazing. Did a gravel brevet on them and I had no trouble keeping up with the roadies on the tarmac sections. I run them with tubes, think I read somewhere that LS don't do tubeless very well.

This is the sad situation right now thou. 1265 grams of pure joy :(((
