A bike that you can fill with air to inflate your tubeless tyres

fuck off

Does that mean it's too practical or so impractical even you don't like it?

wah! discovered the tandem has bent forks! was too busy building and sorting to notice. wrote to ebayer, doubt that will help, doubt he had anything to do with the damage but good to get my annoyance off my chest. after much swearing clamping, spannering (13" of precision), a disappointing call to a bike shop, some youtubing and eventually just attacking them, they are now a crucial 5mm less bent than they were previously -- wait, is this the wrong thread for this? --anyhoo "cold-set".

This thread was a massive inspiration for my latest budget build, so thought I'd show it off here. Sub £200 shopping/touring bike.

You did good. Very cool frame and build.

• #1711
I like that a lot. Not a big fan of saddle and wooden box tho :)

Very nice result !
Are there any old school 700c capable MTB's ? I just feel it would make for a faster touring configuration.
-
• #1713
Loads of retro MTBs have the clearance for 700c. Brakes are the difficult part!
-
• #1714
And most retro 700c bikes won’t fit a tire fatter then 32 or 35mm.
-
• #1715
Why though?
A 26x2.2 tire ha roughly the same diameter as a 700x28mm tire. Speed depends on how much you pedal. -

Has anyone tried a deep 650c wheel in a retro MTB for a laugh? They're really cheap on eBay
-
• #1718
Did 650b on my gravel bike, 650c would be fine and you would probably have a couple more brake options (these are maxed out tektro CL720s.)

That's sweet

I meant 650c, like lo-pro front wheels and old TT bike size. The wheel diameter is very very similar to 26" so should be well within tolerance for nearly any standard rim brakes. It's an unfashionable size so you can get deep Zipp wheels for £20
But that's a super nice bike man, did you have to do anything to get the brakes working or was there enough adjustment by default? Are they the Brevet rims?
Edit: ah you answered my questions in your edit :)

Ah, I was just under the impression 650c was a weird dead wheelsize, It would be interesting, and Ill need a new wheelset for my Kona soon... Tires are a concern
The rims are just some velocity twinholes that I found at the co-op for cheap.

What about tyres though.
-
• #1723
Yeah, tyres are a ballache. Especially since a lot of those wheels are for tubulars. hip hop slave monstour though

Imagine these badboys on a 26" MTB

↑This. There are about two easily available 650C clinchers, and you wouldn't want to use either of them on anything other than a road racing bike.
That looks sweet!
