How do you deal with dogs? We had a few close calls in Spain last year, our main solution was to panic and gtfo, which is easier said than done on a tandem :/

Panic and GTFO too. Should have seen the sprint I launched into when I found myself at a dead end farm with 2 alsatians heading at me very fast.
After that I bought some pepper spray. And keep pepper spray with me.
I understand it's people on bicycles they chase. So one (all be it a bit brave) thing to do, is get off the bike, put the bike down and be a human. There not really much else you can do, either fight or flight.

Squirt or two to the face from a waterbottle usually stuns/distracts the smaller ones for long enough to get away... not sure I'd fancy trying it with larger dogs though...
I wonder if those mini airhorn things would scare them off, less chance of accidentally ending up with an eyeful of pepper spray...

Yeah I mean pepper spray is something I have, but a last resort dogs about to actually attack me use.
Generally I just keep cycling and make stupid barking noises back.

I usually find that screaming "NO!" (nein, non, etc.) occasionally work, since it's a command they understood.
That is if they're actually trained.

I got chased by a pack of horrendous, large, foaming-at-the jaws things in Italy. I had to sprint for 300m on a constant 8% grade but realised there was a fence between them and the road... for a while..... fuuuuuu
I think riding away kinda makes them worse, but what are you going to do?

Not been chased on the bike, but I've been chased by quite a lot of feral dogs while running.
Most of the time turning and running a few steps towards them while shouting did the trick but I've had a few times when I've had to stop and shout every 20m as they lunge back in as soon as I turned my back. I took to carrying a handful of stones on some runs too.
none of that helps on a bike though. csb etc...

OK I think it's going up for sale. Just won't get ridden any more.
I've just about serviced the bike completely, loads of new parts. The frame was replaced under warrenty back in feb. So it's in really good shape, just some scratches on rear derailleur and shifters. OEM wheelset has had like 100miles on it. So actually only derailleurs that have had a few miles. -

Dibs on the rims if you split.

Just rims or wheels.
You mean the belgiums? -
