  • A bit too all American for me. Keen to end up with something a bit more/exactly like

  • Really like that too

  • Good because despite a day or two waivering I'm now 90% sure this puppy is being killed.

  • If you wanted a new bike, why didn't you just buy a new one?

I don't really get it; buying a second hand frame from the 90s and then erasing all trace of it having been used.

    :/

  • Because buying a new bike from the 90s is pretty tricky? With the vgc/nos parts this is receiving, when it comes out the other end it will feel practically new. I didn't buy it for the 'patina', if I did then why bother sourcing barely used DA and rims, etc? I bought it because it was quality steel from a quality manufacturer from the right year.
It'll ride the same, paint job or no, so why not?

  • Paint it, yellow looks shit. The end.

  • In normal post world - this is going to look badass!

  • Dude he just puttng a lick of fresh coat on, not cutting off every single braze on and turn it into a hi-ris hipster touring bike.

  • What size is the frame, Tom?

  • serial number says it's a 56L, which would be 56.5cm top tube. Tape measure agrees.

  • Disagree with all you folk who say keep the paint. I've seen it in the flesh and it looks old and sad. Fluro remake is the way forward. The more colours the better.

  • You look old and sad.

  • Only in opposite land

  • Paint it, yellow looks shit. The end.

    Yellow fucking rock frickface.

    Ulterior motives.

  • put di2 on it

  • ^ lol

  • When a 56/57cm KG243 comes up and I transfer all the bits from this over, maybe.

  • I am with the puppy kill contingent but then in the picture it doesn't look old and sad.

If it actually is old and sad IRL you should respray it in the same colours because the red and yellow is awesome.

  • This gonna be gud.

  • The KG243 paint job looks pretty basic to me. Just get the serrotta painting to look like it, hit yourself in the head so you forget and then you'll be none the wiser when you ride your awesome steel look every day

  • 243 has nice metallicness and tidy airbrushing!
Gave this a little clean and polish this morning, cleared off some decade old road filth and tidied up the bits where the decals are missing and it came up quite nicely. There's a tiny subtle bit of sparkle in the lacquer which I hadn't appreciated before too. And it does sit quite nicely with the other bike...

  • Oops, once again I confused myself, I was thinking of the basic looking yellow 264 AL.

  • Nice shiny silver group on there and those frames will make a nice pair of similar but non-identical his n'hers.

  • Paint is a consumable. Underneath, the framebuilding (which is what Serottas are prized for) remains the same. Give it a second life in whatever way you want.
I also love their flouro fades.
