Oh...and rigid forks all the way! Especially when they're colour coded! :)

I can't seem to get used to sus forks. They're great for bombing down gnarly hills, but never feel quite right on the tamer stuff that I ride now.

A dedicated bike park mtb is next, I guess.
Slack angles, 140mm fork, Pinion gearbox.....

Modern geo, dropper post etc?
-
• #581
Yes, and even hydro discs ;-)
I have nothing against all those things. They're great.
Just not for this bike.

Modern geo
is a fashion trend. Traditionalish angles for rigid bikes still rule

How are you finding the tyre combo? I'm currently rim shopping and wondering whether to go blunt 35 and 2.6 on the front. Seems like it involves about 400g extra to the front wheel.

It's working out well for what I do. Not too slow on hardpack trails, not too slippery in the mud. It's still a compromise though, and specific tyres for specific conditions will always win out.
I'd looked at the Blunts, but too many reviews of then being easily dented put me off.

Rigid XC bikes need 4pot DH brakes, right?

If a rookie emergency brakes with these I guess he/she starts to orbit around the planet?

What are the small stainless strips near the dropout for?

We'll soon find out ;-)
They're very much a 'non-grabby' brake though, which is nice.

The heel of my left foot rubs the stays, so it's there to protect against that. I've gone a little bit past it on the stay, and also rubbed the paint of that bolt, but mostly my shoe has just polished that strip.

Very lovely detail and bike as a whole

Look lovely fella......what old brakes have you got for sale then? My SLX front calliper decided to piss fluid last night, all of a sudden, like!

Sorry, no brakes. Can do you a good price on a Thudbuster post though ;-)

• #593
It was airight :-)

• #594
Shame.... I'll have to put a wanted up before I buy any...
-
• #595
I'll also be selling this soon, once I've worked out a price for it.
