  • Most of my stuff is Santini but Shimano stuff looks like great value.

  • I bought DHB Roubaix knee and arm warmers well over a year ago and they are still going strong and are nice and warm. this is coming from someone who feels the cold quite badly. I'm sure there are better options but for what they cost i'm impressed.

  • I have the Castelli Thermoflex ones and they are a real pleasure to wear. The slightly pricier Nanoflex version is also showerproof, I think.

  • I have it on good authority that Nanoflex arm/legs are a really worthwhile investment.

  • I really like Craft arm/leg warmers - very comfortable and not as thick as the Roubaix material ones everyone else seems to make.

  • Has anyone used the Sportful Norain thermal bibs?

How long does the Nanofux/Norain magic last with regular washing?

  • Baselayers with windproof fronts are great too

    Such as?

  • I have the long sleeve version of this, but the short sleeve is probably more versatile.

  • Is it a bad move to buy a gabba 2 for commuting?... With a backpack?

  • Not clothing, but mudguards are a winter essential. You stay drier and therefore warmer, your riding partners will thank you for being so considerate, your bike will stay cleaner - everyone's a winner. 'Chasse de forme' as they say in the Dordogne!

  • Also looking for some advice as a complete novice approaching winter with absolutely nothing. I think for now I only need a jacket and some shorts without breaking the bank, any pointers? Thankssss

  • What's different about them? Are they some kind of goretex material? Are they meant to be worn under other stuff? Are merino undershirts ok to be worn under them? Etc.

  • n/a

  • You could try some dhb Vaeon winter bib shorts and knee warmers from the same range. That should cover most eventualities for not much money.

Edit: lots of jacket options but a good softshell would be a worthwhile investment. I would be less worried about cheaper waterproof stuff as it is inevitably not very breathable so you end up pretty damp anyway.

  • Anyone own a Craft windstopper baselayer? Any good? They're reasonably priced at Merlin.
And there's a Pearl Izumi one for pretty much the same price. I like Pearl Izumi.

    Which one do I get?

  • Ok, so not really winter in Sweden yet but it's raining cats and dogs and the temp is dropping slowly.

Doing a night race on the 24th and I need some recommendations for waterproof/warm bibs, overshoes and gloves that won't break the bank.

  • Nanoflex + defeet

  • For mild chill rapha merino knee warmers are aces.

But for value, my Pro Bike Kit knee warmers have lasted years and very regular use. Seem like a decent bit of kit for the low cost.

  • Too bad my size is currently out of stock on the Nano's.

  • You'll need more than defeet gloves riding in Sweden. What is it averaging at this time of year? 5-10°c highs?

There is a glove thread. I like Gore Windstopper for ^that kind of temp, then stick a liner in for colder. I use defeets around 10° (or colder if just a short ride).

  • Too bad

Sportful Rorain. The same but sometimes a note cheaper.

  • Need a new jersey to see me through winter, was thinking either a Torm long sleeve/short sleeve (W/armwarmers)? Opinions?

  • Usually the Gabba on it's own is enough, or pair with a baselayer if it's a little chillier.

Too warm to wear Gabba today.

  • totally forgot that bought a short sleeve gabba from sale a couple of weeks ago.. it's -1°c or abouts so maybe a baselayer under, arm warmers and a gilet?

    gotta test tomorrow..
