  • Those overgloves look interesting. Are they current models? Can't seem to find them on the decathlon website.

  • I've been using Dissent 133 for a few years now and they're pretty good... 3 layer system with a nice little diagram on the box telling you what layers to wear for what temperature... I haven't got the waterproof uppers, but wouldn't mind getting these at some point as well.

  • It must be those, they now show as out of stock but I got them in the store in Charlton last week.

If you pick a size and use the store checker you can see they are in stock in most places.

  • Got my charity shop Albion Zoa-alternative golf-club trousers on for a spin round the farm. They’re way too thin to use as anything other than over-trousers but they’re very stretchy and seemingly completely waterproof, bit more insulation as well.

  • I gave up on finding a cycling specific paclite that is rucksack compatible so plumped for the two years on the run award winning Mountain Equipment Men’s LHOTSE Gore-Tex Pro Jacket . When its peeing down again next week ask me how it fares .

  • Crane gloves out of Aldi. £5 I think. Into their second season. (If anyone sees them back in store let me know!)

I am a hot, sweaty mess though.

  • I've got three pairs... truly excellent

  • Thanks to the person here who recommended these bad boys, I love them already

  • I have a pair that are about 11 years old and now starting to fall apart (I'm putting gorilla tape on the holes to get me though the winter). Cost £7 and are about 700% better than the £40 Sealskinz they replaced...

  • where's the rest?

  • I've got the middle ones. They're great, but not at this time of year!

  • I have some fleecey rapha bibs in sz L offered up for sale if anyone is interested.

  • How do you stop the rain running off your rain stopping tights into your waterproof boots? I had the wetsuit bit at the top of the boot done up snug, but the tights are too tight to go over the top I think so they go under and the rain runs onto my socks I guess then down my feet. 2 hours in constant rain yesterday and they were soaked

  • Over top as you say. Or wear rain trousers. Waterproof socks. No tights are waterproof anyway so they will get wet and your socks will get wet.

  • Yeh I guess that’s key, get the tights over the boots or halfway round I saw an FDJ lad with the long show covers and thought ‘damn I need some of those’

  • Cut the the wrist off a heavy duty black rubber glove.

  • Like this! And wear it like a mini gaitor? Nice idea

  • Or get pink gloves and if anyone asks you are a beta tester for Rapha.

  • Which are better, Rapha Classic Winter tights or the Pro Team winter tights?

  • “Better”?

  • Subjectively preferred?

  • What’s the current rain jacket of choice?

My 15 year old assos race cape refuses to die. But I think the times come as it’s gone way past off white to a browny grey colour

    Looking for

    • quality waterproof shell (not a gabba type thing, which I have - this is for when’s raining properly)
    • Not black, got to be a bright colour
    • tough enough for bags on the shoulder so I can use on commute if I want (which rules out shakedry I think)
    • Roadie/ fitted cut rather than baggy commuter / mtb
    • Not rapha or dhb

  • Rather gave up on the search and bought a proper goretex pro lotze from mountain equipment .
    Here are my notes
Provision night vision commute new style red/reflective.

    Arc'teryx Alpha SV Jacket
    Lasted 10 years robust

Norrona Men's Lofoten Gore-Tex Pro GXT Jacket

    Norrona Loften GORE-TEX Pro
    Men's Jacket
    SKU: 339003 MPN: 1002-20

    MOUNTAIN EQUIPMENT tupila
    Jacket

    Mountain Equipment Lhotse
Looks best at the moment new version 175£.

  • Lots of good ones out there - well proper rain jackets. MAAP, rapha, dhb, albion, all are good. Save the skanky asoss one for commuting duties so you don't set unrealistic expectations for durability from a cycling jacket. Bags generally fuck up nice fabrics
