  • havent updated for a while purely because nothing has happened. The next step will probably to get the crank and bb installed and then source some kind of temporary wheels to get it rideable. Wheelset will probably happen very late.

I was bored and decided to see what what my ITM dual bars looked like on it. I quite liked it, however still prefer the nitto rb010s. But if i do any easy time trial type rides they may be interesting.

  • Always liked ITM bars, this would look great as a TT geared bike I know its not your plan quite a few guys I know who ride Lo Pro,s are changing them back to geared.

    Andy

  • Pink Benotto would look gash: neither matching nor contrasting with the frame's red.

    48x16 is very nearly 79GI (assuming a 23mm tyre): I'd think again.

  • thank you, thats what i thought regarding the tape.

And there are other ratios, i haven't made my mind up yet. I would screenshot but don't know how to on a mac so: http://eehouse.org/fixin/formfmu.php. The chain stay length is 37cm

  • Plans of painting the concor logo on the seat have fallen through. I thought it would be relatively easy to get it straight, even and accurate. Thinking about getting a decal for it however not sure where to go or even if they work on plastic.

  • Seems like a lot of work (with the recovering) on a not so scarce saddle: couldn't you get another?

I've got a white, perforated leather Regal I'm not using...

  • I could, (do you have any pictures of it) but the cost of doing so would be higher, surly? Plus I've always wanted one of those concor saddles with the logo on the back. I dunno why but i've always really liked the look of it.

  • I'm open to an offer though.

  • Hopefully going to buy a seatpost this weekend. It'll just be a normal and pretty basic one. Gonna try and keep it plain as possible though.

  • Just went over to local shop to get the seat post and check seat tube diameter. I went for a system ex 27.0mm post. Though definitely not the most period correct choice by a long shot, albeit I don't care much for that, the logo is decently subtle and its practical.

That said if anyone knows of any low risk, easy techniques regarding the removal of the logo, which I presume is anodised, I'm open to suggestion.

  • use lightly and should come off quickly

  • Got two of those on my tandem, after two tours the logos seem to have done a pretty good job of removing themselves. I imagine repeated rubbing with a very light abrasive would do the job.

  • Thanks both of you.

  • THE UPDATED PLAN

    DONE
    -handlebars, nitto RB010-25.4clamp
    -stem, inch quill-25.4 clamp
    -frame, duh
    -seatpost, 27mm
    -concor seat
    -single speed chain
-will be temporarily using another rear wheel

    TO DO in order
-get bb (italian thread unknown spindle length and suspected 70mm shell width)
-get crankset (48t, possibly other size)
-get front wheel, temporary (already sourced, waiting on pick up time)
-get some pedals: I'm not sure if i want Shimano aero pedals due to the more specific clips. Hmmm.
-whenever possible recover and add concor sticker to seat.

  • Pedal choice depends on what you're using it for. If it's for knocking around town then the last thing you want is road bike pedals. Go for cages or SDPs so you can wear shoes that work on flat surfaces...

  • Its really between something like the too ones vs the bottom ones (except nicer bottom ones with clips).

Which look really nice IMO but will be harder to find clips for if they get badly scratches etc.

    or

Just the normal kind of pedals with normal clips. These don't look as nice IMO bit will be easier to replace.

  • I was always going to go cages to maintain the somewhat vintage look to the build.

  • Ive had a few inquiries about this so just wanted to tidy this up. The ITM bars at the top of this page are not for sale.

  • I personally prefer the look of the shimano pedals, I had a pair of 600s for a while. As you said, finding replacements for the cages is difficult and expensive, I think I found that it was cheaper just to buy another set of the pedals already with cages. When the cages on mine snapped I just decided to get a pair of regular pedals with the standard cage mount.

  • Yeah I prefer the aero pedals but yeah the clips must have been really expensive. I remember someone mentioning this guy who can apparently 3D print headbadges and lugs: http://www.mildbunchbespoke.com (on this thread: http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/251762/#comment11966538). I've asked him if he can do toe clips. Do you think that could work?

  • Turns out they'd be quite expensive though possibly still an option if they're packed together tightly. I think I'm gonna go for the Shimano pedals. If worst comes to worst i have to replace the pedals but i don't see the clips snapping any time too soon.
In the meantime I'll try to accumulate as many extra clips as possible.

Update on the ratio: I think i will be going 48/18.

  • Slight change in plan. Just ordered a 650c wheel - which will not be temporary - from @Rik_Van_Looy. Mavic open pro rim and campag hub. It should arrive on Friday and I'll try and get pics up then but for now: (from seller)

  • Love how the autocorrect replaced Mavic with magic... Nice wheel, I assume now you're hunting for a matching rear?
When you find out which crankset you getting I have few spare campag ita bb that you might find useful ;)

  • That'd be great I'll give u a shout when I get the crankset.
