I think I saw that the brittania has 25 miles on unpaved roads. I've got quite a lot of clearance and pretty sure I could fit 32s. I was thinking about paselas, grand bois cypres or rivendell jack brown blue or green. What makes sense - is there some other option I've not even considered? Gum wall for sure I think. I'll use them afterwards on a different bike around town.
Final consideration is - I weigh 110kg (17st 4 ish maybe?) and I'm finding it hard to find PSI and weight ratings/confirmation I'm not too heavy.....
[Might also post this on/move it to a tyre thread...]

I did it on 23 Paselas. Was all good, no punctures, no skids. There are some muddy bits in the woods that may be less fun if it rains tho.
Still time to lose a few kilos between now and then. ;)

Haha. Thanks, v helpful re route. Maybe I'll just get some 28s. I am dieting but its not as bad as it sounds, im 6'6" and play rugby - never going to amount to much of a cyclist....

i run jack brown blue and green for italy which are great, also the grand bois serf blue but they aren't great for punctures
can't see why you'd be too heavy for the tyres but i would definitely run 36 spoke hubs and the widest rims i could find

I am new to thinking about wider tyres, but had understood that you run them with a wide rim and at a lower pressure. I'd be concerned that I would ahve to over pump them to stop them bottoming out or something. thanks for tips.

rode the route over the weekend, I was on 28c and friend had 25c, could have done it on 23c no problem. Cracking route, plenty of climbing!

Looking for some group thoughts here please…
MassifCentral - my graphic-related project - are going to be at the event offering commemorative prints for Eroica Britannia riders.
You check out what we do on this thread:https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/263345/
and this website:
http://themassifcentral.co.ukWe will feature the route profiles and the ride's key locations in our normal way but also wanted to make this one a bit special so we will be hand-stencilling rider names and bike details to the prints and hopefully adding the village brevet card stamps as well.
It still early days for the design work so I'd be interested to hear about anything else that you guys think would be apt to feature?
Thanks

So how are people getting to Bakewell from London?
We are carless. Last year we did a train to Matlock and ride to Bakewell, but looks like trainline works are happening so 2 changes which is not ideal.
Exploring trains to Chesterfield, or Buxton.
Thoughts? -

it's to try to determine if the posh twats in our group with a campervan can locate themselves relatively close to the poor twats in our group with tents, notwithstanding a fence or two in the way.
I'm in the latter group.

got most of the bits for bike build now. looking forward to puting it all together but a bit nervous about testing the wheels. this is my first ever attempt at wheel building & one ofthe rims was particularly un-round/flat. still have to go over mrs conker's bike which hasn't been looked at or ridden for about 9 months - she's decidedly non plussed about the whole event. If it rains that will be the very last time she ever has anything to do with bikes EVER

I've an identical issue with my Mrs. Currently in negotiations about going to the Show with the family. If it's nice weather it could be great and get everyone into bikes. If it's crap then game over!

• #123
^Ive given up trying to accomodate/ negotiate so have an entry going spare, have emailed the organisers and can transfer an entry if anyone is interested
