  • It looks excellent and suits the bike pefectly, even the colour compliments the red.

Glad you're happy with it, probably sensible to mount to the canti mounts, I expect it will make a difference.

I don't think aesthetically it is too "rugged" for the bike, due to the skinny construction.

  • I kinda like it, beyond the name, but the close up towards the end of the rear dropout with that agricultural weld wasn't very appealing... But these are only prototypes so maybe they'll improve? Seems truly versatile. Bit like Moulton, not the space frame, the cheap ones, can't remember their name.
Funny that the head badge logo has similarities with Winston's logo (that Berlin Sarah designed, in case you had forgotten G.) being posted here...

  • Didn't forget.

  • What happens when you bunny hop?

  • Like @TomvanHalen says about his glorious flames, "best bike ever stage of our relationship"

After a couple of month back on the sprung MTB Brooks, I've re installed the Flite ti. I stand by the inline seatpost!
Problem with that specific Brooks is not the weight, or the springs noises always making you wonder if your bb, your spoke tension, your chainring nuts need attending, it's the width... Was always happy with my B17 narrow, or Pro models, but the Conquest may not be for me...
Also made a little contraption to better secure the front overhanging bit of the front mudguard. Always found that section a bit flimsy on VOs, not the first time I use them...

Great to see the bike still running :)

  • Just seen this thread (I'm catching up)... love this bike!

  • Nice bike remains v nice (except for those brake levers. Bad memories)

  • @veLLo would really like to buy your conquest if you'd like to 'monetise' it while it takes up valuable space...

  • You remember it's a red frame, is that ok with you? (Or with the Condor MTB I'm guessing you're thinking of it for?)

Otherwise yes happy to let it go...
Monetizing or swapping for whatever useful to help build a tandem?

  • Yes red springs I remember! Love them.

Going to text you... let's have a beer!

  • Used the Paselas for tandem project, so new tires for the Varonha... I like gum walls but decided to try all black this time... I think it works nicely, and looks less shit in the winter...

  • Looks cool imo.

  • Looks great with those, have you considered full sized v brakes as you have bar end shifters?

  • Yes and no, never saw v-brakes I liked too much the look of, saying that some mini Vs are quite attractive, like on @eyebrows 's fixed/cx bike I saw the other day, trp cx 8.4 (if I'm correct assuming they are mini)... They look really good, nicely machined...
But money goes towards tandem at the moment, and i never had to complain about the cantis, although I realise there's room for improvement here...

  • @veLLo , you seem to be a bit of a tinkerer with racks and the like. I'm considering running a Carradice super c audax as a bar bag, as apposed to saddlebag, do you think a bagman rack could be tinkered with to fit on handlebars? And also, how sturdy are they?

  • Best improvement you can get is simply fitting fork mounted cable hanger.

This allow you to no longer resort to toe-in and no judder.

  • Not sure how that would work... If drop bars they'd need to be very wide to receive the Carradice in between.
I'd be tempted to go the front rack route rather bagman... I'm looking at it right now and being designed to clamp onto saddle railings there's little scope without butchering it to attach to bars.
On stiffness, as they come, I personally don't find them stiff enough and I've added struts, over a year ago now and it does exactly what I want it to do now. But on handlebars I'd want to replicate that and to do so I'd try to find support below which takes back to front rack again...
So gut feeling tells me front rack and some kind of decaleur connecting to the bag, rather than bagman.
Do you already have the bag?

  • I don't doubt the efficiency of this but I just don't like the way it looks, and I don't want to drill my forks for that.
Judder was mostly with the carbon forks, I'm not having problems now I'm back with the steel forks.
It's going to stay like this or I'm going mini V, the ones I've seen on @eyebrows are my favorite so far (TRP 8.4)

  • I have an ILE front rack bag and 24 pack rack on my Surly. You're welcome to swing by and have a ride if you want to try it out.

  • You've seen this I assume from the Carradice thread
