The smile is clearly photoshopped and the ring should be on his other hand. This is fishy as hell.

Great to see , both the moment when he realised Gregoire was fading and didn’t have it , and the moment at the line when he knew he’d done it ….
I like that everyone likes him and is chuffed for him - Gregoire excepted…Plus - good top three finish for Nerurkar … he’s ex VCL isn’t he ?

Surely an old photo…no front lights needed at this time year in Europe.

Yes, he was. Impressive ride from him at this level.

Disappointed that the "specific wings" on the Ineos visor are not wings. It's all lies. https://www.highonbikes.com/products/kask-aero-pro-replacement-visor?variant=44359535165602
eta Just seen them on the telly and they're huge

-
• #49610
It's definitely an above par performance. Bodes well for the rest of this race.

I was watching the coverage today when this happened.
How could the race orangisers not see that that the smooth as ice road surface would be a disaster with a drop of rain.
There should be a uci fine for the organisers.
Hopefully Rog and Remco aren’t injured.

• #49619
It was a straight bit of road though. In theory shouldn't be risky.
What are the orgs supposed to do? Change the route on the fly every time there's a rain shower or never race if there's a chance of rain?

Make everyone use rim brakes?

When they are reconning the route they could say, oh, that’s a sketchy bit of mirror finish tarmac, image a peloton of professional cyclists barrelling down here at 50kph, is this a potential crash site?
-
• #49623
The road was probably resurfaced because the race was due to use it.
-
• #49624
And then what, change the route on the day?

The shouty DS said he was there before the riders and it didn't look bad.
Also, there might be limited road options in the area, especially if every bit of shiny road was a concern...
His team posted a pic on instagram but it looks doesn’t look quite right. Did he borrow a smaller bike for a photo op. Or are his injuries affecting his riding?
