  • I can't remember a crash taking out so many top riders, ever. It's Vine and Cras who have my greatest sympathy, spinal injuries are the worst. I had a fair combination of the others in a single crash 20 odd years ago (6 ribs, collarbone, shoulderblade, collapsed lung), I was 3 days in intensive care, 5 on a ward and riding very slowly within a month. These supermen will get the best possible medical care and recover better than late 30s me on the NHS, who were superb.

All I want to say is that there is room for optimism.

  • When I broke my collarbone I was fixed and riding withing a month, so should be possible for people to be back in time for the tour, although maybe not in their best shape/form. Conversly, when I broke my thumb they wouldn't let me in a bike fir nearly 8;weeks and I couldn't hold the bars or brake properly for a good while of that

  • Were you allowed to hitchhike?

  • Supermen is right, I can’t imagine suffering the injuries that they have, and then aiming to win the Tour de France in less than 3 months…

  • Jonas also has a pulmonary contusion and a collapsed lung which they didn’t originally announce

  • Jonas apparently also said back in January this exact descent was dangerous.

  • Lennard Kämna was also very seriously injured yesterday having been hit by a car while training in Tenerife.

  • Do you have @fussballclub on ignore?

  • That's big list, missing Derek Gee out with a broken collar bone

  • Landa out, this race is cursed

  • The list is missing the ladies .

  • Taco VDH also still out with concussion I believe.

  • Pidcock not injured after all and is riding Paris Roubaix

  • arise are pidders

  • EF are throwing Lukas Nerurkar in for the lols too. I wonder what he's done to upset the sporting directors.

  • I crashed a long time ago, like 30 years back, and really buggered my left hip up. I think Pidcock did something similar, i.e. nothing broken just a hard impact on it.

I couldn't put weight on it for a day or two, but riding a bike was good for it as it kept it moving and got the blood flowing around it. Presumably Pidcock is riding tomorrow to increase his TSS score ahead of Ardennes week.

  • When I saw a swanny carrying him off the team bus and into an ambulance I didn't think we'd see him for weeks

  • Cobbles are 'nice' and dry. A few puddles but nothing major.
Puck Pieterse today and Florian Vermeersch tomorrow.

  • he just likes to be carried. Learnt it from Iserbyt

  • I'd be very impressed if Pieterse won today.

  • She's not riding it, for a start.

  • Haha. In that case, Pfeiffer Georgi.

  • A full Bäckstedt family outing today. Would be outstanding to see Zoe win but recent results suggest that won't happen

Marianne Vos has got to be a favourite?

  • cmon are zoe

  • she better be on an arkose
