  • Gravel crits are awesome. Great race.

  • Oh dear hope mvdp isn't concussed, that was like a pinball ricochet. Great race though, the drone shots of wout and mdvps accelerations on that straight were fierce

  • MVDP looked asleep at the wheel in that lap, sometimes I wonder where his head is at

Don’t do intervals. Snickers and a coke with 50k to go.

  • what a boss in that Astana kit!

  • I have to say I liked it better when there were like 2 or maybe 3 British riders who could win a race because trying to remember these skinny fuckers names is a PITA.

  • Shimano giving Svein Tuft his due as the daddy of whatever the fuck gravel guys think they are doing but he was always just doing feels gud.

  • Explains how he won the Vuelta.... refined sugar.

Has anyone else noticed that the UAE team are issuing PR around their training methods. A few weeks ago it was them banging on about Z2 rides being responsible for Pog's success, now how fasted rides producing winners is bollocks (I'm paraphrasing).

The paper, which was co-authored by UAE Emirates’ performance guru and Tadej Pogačar‘s personal coach Iñigo San Millán, suggests it’s time to rethink the often controversial principle of fasted training.

Makes me wonder if there's something coming down the road about one or more of the team's riders that they're trying to get ahead of.

  • San Millan loves talking to the media, I think you’re reading far more into it than is actually there.

  • refined sugar.

It was refined something. It wasn't sugar.

  • Larry Warbasse in a one or two year old cycling podcast recounted charmingly his fasted training 'results'.

  • Maybe. Certain amount of cynicism comes with the territory I think :)

  • I think it’s perfectly justified to be cynical about any team that is led by Mauro Gianetti.

  • Was there any chat here about the Ghost in the Machine podcast that I missed? I listened to the first episode this morning and I will carry on with it, it reminded me of Patrick Radden Keefe's podcast where he tried to work out if Wind of Change was written by the CIA...

  • Are you sure UAE are issuing PR? I think Inigo is as part of his academic work as he co-published a research paper on it recently.

It won’t be news to any world tour team.

Tao has talked in the past about the years of fasted endurance rides at Sky and what a waste of time it was, as for the past few years they’ve been carbing up. They were starved for years and now they’re being force fed sugar.

  • Rui Costa on EF. Missed that.

  • He's built a career on people missing his presence.

  • Hah. V good

  • How are we feeling about Brandon McNulty's facial hair?
