The mystery Rog bidon incident has been cleared up. It was Nik Čemažar.
Rog was at altitude in Tignes.

Nasty crash there. Obviously needed neutralising but 3 steady laps then 500m into a 750m effort for the win won't please GB there.

What happened to the coverage of half the top qualifiers in the BMX Freestyle? Didn't show top qualy Logan, at least one of the Americans and a Japanese rider and then went into rain delay.

Heartbreak for Italy in the women's elite Madison. Chiara Consonni had to ride the last 9 laps without her teammate and she missed bronze. I fear the world may never be treated to another Consonni post-win interview. I want to see her top this: https://youtu.be/NmQw97qNCtU

Well, the Men's BMX Freestyle was shit. Missing coverage of half the runs, delayed due to rain (who'd have fucking thunk it in Scotland - build a fucking roof!) and then bullshit judging, cheating at least one American and an Aussie out of their deserved places. Bring in the AI judging.
-

I watched the BMX live, not sure what they've done with the recording but I saw everyone's runs. The Aussie guys bike flip was insane.
-
• #47043
Maybe the rain was the Aussie’s tears.
-
• #47044
The rain delay was just for the last 2 contestants runs. The commentators were a bit miffed at times about the judging but then admitted they're not really very good at it as they can't spot things like people going the opposite direction to their natural inclination which is worth more.

As someone who’s ridden bmx for 20+ years, you always know when someone is spinning or whipping opposite. I think the judging was pretty fair, and despite hating Kieran Reiley’s style a double flair is nuts and easily trumps a bike flip. It seemed like most people got the placing they deserved.
The commentary on the other hand was beyond dreadful. Is it too much to ask that the commentators know something about the sport they commentate on?! There were so many nuances that were totally ignored that would have made it much more interesting for the viewer

Yes. How else do you explain the continued employment of Carlton Kirby?
-
• #47047
The commentators weren't the only ones miffed with the judging.
-
• #47048
Yeah I'm surprised the commentators are so dreadful because it's always these guys who do it at big events like this. Should have muted them and turned up Catfish the MC's mic instead.

Sandoval double flaired and didn't even crack 90 points. No one else pulled a bike flip.
Gils early 89.3 was nonsense.
One of the other American riders was quite vocal about the judges not knowing what they're looking at.
GCN commentary was worse than BBCs which is going some.

What time is the mens Madison on today?
Tommy Simpson agrees.
