  • What’s the gap?

Did they say 12s? Not much cat n Mouse needed if so but it is for second & third now.

  • OMG

  • Stephens breathless

  • I’m switching to Fred

  • So good to see him carry it home.

  • No disrespect to Knox or Williams, but Wright was the class act of that trio. Top ten in Flanders, twice, plus a protagonist in the Tour last year.

  • made up for Fred :)

  • Of course. The way he was accelerating over the top after Knox’s digs on the finishing climb, it was nailed on unless he messed up the finale.

I’m glad to see him get his first pro win! I expect he’ll get more in that jersey.

  • Fred!!!!!

  • I wonder if their is a gentleman's deal of something in the back pocket from the previous winner watch oakley glasses that sort of thing. Not just a years free bc membership.

  • …. yes …. ! brilliant …

  • I'm really pleased for Fred, he deserves a win and the Nationals is as good a place to start as anywhere. I'm hoping, like many others I'm sure, that this is the first win of many.

  • His celebration was very classy too, can't imagine how tough it's been for the Bahrain riders over the past week or so.

  • The interview afterwards too, he stayed very polite in the line of a few too many shit questions.

  • Someone needs to look into whats going on in sports journalism. the ones doing Cycling in particular seem to be completely uninterested in being Good At The Job.

"When you did that thing that we all know what it means, did you think about doing that thing and can you tell me exactly what it means because It is impossible for me to think about this beyond getting a pull quote from you that will make my editor happy?"

  • Double whammy for racism.

  • Didn't look like he could quite believe it when he came up to the line on his own!

  • I didn't realise that the national champs was on yesterday until a friend mentioned it off the cuff at a BBQ on Saturday. Spent the afternoon sitting on a 25% corner in the town - rather brutal! Fantastic spot to watch though, can see riders descend from Brotton, wind round the bottom & then straight into the last 500m of the course.

Weather was mixed to say the least, though really the course got off lightly compared to much heavier rain which passed to the west & east.

  • Must be first Sky/Ineos team to hit Le Tour without a realistic GC prospect.

  • What are you talking about, the quadrant of Bernal, Martinez, Pidcock and Rodriguez is going to show Movistar the errors of their ways.

  • probably is since the very early days. Not much choice though I suppose-Bernal not back to his best, Thomas riding the Giro and Vuelta instead and Tao injured (and possibly leaving the team anyway). I guess Pidcock is there for stage wins more than anything, and to gain more experience. and Bernal is going to just see what his form is really like over a full 3 weeks.

  • for those 4, Mas alone is enough

  • carlos rodriguez is from my home away from home. his dad is a local figure, everyone knows them. i’m going to put a bet on him, he’s definitely got the talent, 100%, praps not the experience. can he tt? EDIT yes! 66/1

  • Mas is totally going to boss this.

  • I'm hoping for pidcock to deliver alaphillipe style fireworks, mainly
