  • Fair, but that was the kind of sprint he often wins, i.e. at the end of a hilly day when the pure sprinters have been dropped.

I think the point I was making, and I'm not sure why, is that he's not a pure sprinter, so when the really fast riders, like Jakobsen, Philipsen, Ewen, Cavendish etc., are in contention, then he never beats them.

  • This is the comment I was going to make.

  • I have a soft spot for Matthews because I once tailgated him on bike and then watched him sit in team car and DESTROY a HUGE container of pasta /csb

  • Froome not included in the IPT team for the Tour.

  • When’s his contract up with IPT? One website says it’s the end of this year, others say he signed a five year deal in 2020.

  • I imagine there are break clauses for either side. Can’t see how he’d get into another WT team now though.

  • Rumours are he’s joined Quadlock as Head of Brand.

  • At what point does it become delusional?

  • Love it.

  • become

    ?

Sadly it has already I feel. Fair play for him carrying on training but it appears over in terms of him being competetive at this level.

  • He's won enough, just become a DS already

  • I really don’t get the supposed numbers behind the contract and how that made any sense but that’s not his fault.
I just hope he leaves happy and content with his success.

  • I am certain I saw an interview two days ago about him going for a stage win. I wonder if they have told him he is not going

  • Gets lots of news coverage, far more than other team members ...

  • I’d question the strategy when biggest headline is a press briefing stating he’s not going to the tour.

  • If he wants to carry on riding, and they want to carry on paying him then fair enough. I get the impassion that froome knows he will never win another stage race again, just hopes for one more stage win. He did have that stage with Pidcock last year I guess, so maybe he can still win, or at least place well on the odd stage

  • I’d question the strategy when biggest headline is a press briefing stating he’s not going to the tour.

They're building up the hype for 2024.

  • 2024 is going to be Froome v Bernal v Tao and you all know it.

  • To be fair to him, he was 26th on GC when he had to abandon the Tour due to COVID last year. Whilst not at his previous level, obviously, that’s still pretty decent.

  • ...plus 3rd on Tom Pidcock's Alpe d'Huez stage win.

  • National circuit racing champs on Eurosport now. Spots of rain in Redcar. Tarling, Tanfield, Briggs, Mazzone, Rowe. Some units about to kick off.

  • Trentin absolutely fucking furious at the end of the Italian national champs. Watched the replay and couldn't really see anything too controversial.
