It appears riding into a trench full of rocks at 35mph might not work with some tyre/rim combos causing concussion and/or fractures.

Could Tom still be suffering from his concussion? He could pass all the concussion protocols but not be 100%.

Possibly. From what I understand, he had to take at least a week off the bike, so his lack of depth should come as no surprise. He was doing fine today until the last 10 kms and then he blew up big time, shipping the best part of 2 minutes to Pogacar.

In the interviews after the race Pidcock said he had a problem with the distance again.
