  • In America, this is pro cycling. This and crits are all they have left. Spare a thought.

  • Just watched the stage... Pozzovivo isn't an elegant bike rider is he?

  • Poor muricans. Well, if you take away 7 maillot jeunes, they'll never notice ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • Pozzovivo isn't an elegant bike rider is he?

Nope. But given the pretty catastrophic injuries he's had it's a miracle he can still walk, let alone race at the front of Grand Tours.

  • Pozzo is having a bit of a stormer , even more so considering he's 39 and broke half the bones in his body 3 years ago.
I was hoping to see more of Narveaz maybe run him as a second protected rider in case something happens to Carapaz.

For the GC you mean? Narvaez is not, and will never be, a GC rider as he can't climb with the best. He's found his niche now as a classics rider and solid puncheur. I think both Quick-Step and Ineos assumed that because he was South American he was a climber, and it's taken him some time to shake off that assumption.

  • My cycling history memory isn't as good as yours but I seem to remember him getting some surprisingly good results in the last few years. Looking it up now I must have been thinking of the 2020 giro stage he won and it wasn't even that hilly

  • @villa-ru who will win today?

  • Bilbao today. Nailed on.

  • everyone looks horny

  • Sounds like the final nail in the coffin of Colin Strickland as a pro bike racer, a career that was already slipping away as he lost interest, got older etc. cool guy and looks great on a bike but not come out of this looking good

  • ciccone is a class act

  • Finally caught up with todays stage. Carthy looked fucked for about 100km and still managed to keep following attacks.

  • I love Guillaume Martin's chaotic energy in GC competitions. Every Grand Tour he races, he seems to have terrible days and bomb out of it, then craftily get himself into the right break and work his way back in, and then sometimes yo-yos in and out from that point. He's never going to be one to outdo his opponents with quiet consistency or getting his team to shut down a race. He's definitely not boring. I enjoyed his approach today.

  • As The Cycling Podcast have termed it, a a snakes and ladders approach to GC.

  • What’s the thread’s verdict on Caicedo?

  • top 5 and looking good. Great to hear the roadside support he is getting from the tifosi. I hope he keeps it!

  • Km0 on the hardest stage of the race and MVDP has fizzy legs again and fires off up the road.

I bet most of the peloton are hoping he abandons this week.
