Continuing the schadenfreude theme with Dygert not participating in the spring classics because of an Epstein Barr infection

I sort of think this as well, although to me he always seemed like an ok kind of chap, albeit rather boring in a pro athlete kind of way.

Overheard on Sporza just how MVDP did in Coppi e Bartali today: he closed a 3 minute gap at 70k to go, left the lead group behind on the last climb, got caught by the peloton and… won the bunch sprint in the end. Nice training day for De Ronde.

If team does due diligence re Colbrelli they should have no liability.

I've been fortunate to meet a large number of pro riders through my job and with the exception of Ed Clancy and Marianne Voss, Frome is the nicest and most down to earth guy. Genuinely humble and interested in others around him, he was a marked contrast to a certain other British Tour winner.
If he wants to keep racing then good on him, I'd love him to win another GT although it ain't happening. It's not his fault he gets paid what he does, his career as a whole earned a final big pay deal.

I thought the way Clancy ended his career epitomised what kind of guy he always seemed to be-didn't want to hold the others back

He's an absolutely top bloke. Ridiculously friendly, relaxed, humble and no real ego. He had so much time for members of the public even minutes before he was about to race on the track.

Agreed - he let me fondle his medals (not a euph). Lovely fella.

What a great win at Gent–Wevelgem

That was a shouting at the telly moment. Love it.

What a race, what a winner. Superb! He's yet to turn 22, unbelievable talent.

Great photo, I’m going to nick it. The Eurosport guys seemed genuinely moved too, “a big moment for our sport”.
Should add Laporte was very gracious too, he was obviously gutted but still said how happy he was for Girmay.

Flanders week 🙌🏻
Only seen highlights of yesterday but Girmay seemed to ride a very smart race. Shame he’s not riding this weekend.

Thank you for the trigger warning 🙏🏻
Edit - read it and quite enjoyed it. Probably because she wrote the entire piece without using the word I once.

Yeah I was shouting at the telly.
I'd predicted Girmay to win from very early, from the first time he was on the right side of a split. He was quite far back after the last time up the Kemmelberg but bossed it back. Hero <3 -

Great to see Girmay win. We were at the top of the kemmelberg watching on the big screen and there was a huge applause from the crowd when he did it!
Don't forget, the Wanty rider Antoine Demoitié died in GW a few years back so this is an even more symbolic win for the team.
Multiple GT winner in copper bottomed self belief shocker!
