I remember reading that besides his amazing watts, Bernal was surprisingly mature and coolheaded for his age.
Unfortunately for Evenepoel, he is such a sensation, that he and the sponsors wouldn’t have been happy for him to be a super domestique.
Compared to Sky/Ineos, where most of the winners have been domestiques (including Bernal) in grand tours before winning.
Except Carapaz, who ended up being a domestique after winning a grand tour... -
