https://inrng.com/2019/03/milan-sanremo-preview-2019/
there is a graph with the size of finishing group in the INRNG preview in 2019.

Perfect, thanks. Will give that a read later.

Wonder if UAE are not that confident in what they bought

Are Alpecin-Fenix a good enough team to shield MVPD so he can get to the Poggio fresh? If so I can see him going solo over the top of the Poggio but Alaphillipe will follow and catch on the descent.
If it's a a simple two up sprint I think we know who will win, but if WVA can get in there too it's gonna be fun

Yes.

Cool.

Alaphillipe will follow and catch on the descent
Juju is good on a bike but Mathieu is better.
-
• #31912
Alaphillipe is a better descender
-
• #31913
Did you miss last year’s MSR?
-
• #31914
Jules was sketchy as on the descent last year. I think he was just brimming with excitement. He gets like that sometimes.
All the MvdP chat is forgetting he’s on a vintage bike.
-
• #31915
Yeah this.
Also how much does weight play a part in descending for pros? Genuine question, is Alaphillipe working harder vs heavier riders?
-
• #31916
Makes a small difference in a straight line.
-
• #31917
No, what am I forgetting? Alaphillipe went over the top first, WVA chased then Alaphillipe let him get back on as he knew he wouldn't hold off the pack on his own, and couldn't win a bunch sprint
-
• #31918
Alaphillipe fucked up two corners which allowed WVA to get back on.
-
• #31919
I just watched it back and he was sketchy to start with.
Just looking back at Strada Bianche this year, Alaphillipe was always pushing ahead on every descent

The descents aren't as critical in SB. Juju's risk/reward calculator is funky, especially after a 10 caffeine gels. Wout and Mathieu know exactly when to take technical risks and when to run the planks....

Gonna be fun to see how it plays out.
Alaphillipe is going to have to solo off and hope that the others look at each other. Otherwise I can't see how he can win.
-
• #31923
should be another classic classic!
-
• #31924
It's cold and wet, MVDP has slayer on the headphones, doesn't put a jacket on and can't stomach any food before the poggio.

I’d forgotten that MvdP was there last year.
He’s due to start his season at Catalunya next week.
