Me: Cycling is too dangerous and race organisers need to sort it out.
Also me: Make them race the Stelvio. I want to see a spectacle now I’ve paid for Eurosport.

I have a question; wasnt it Bernal for tour, Geraint for Giro and Froome for Vuelta? When did Carapaz become Ineos leader?
-
• #28354
When he showed he was more of a contender than Froome. The Ineos management will have known the form of their riders before the race started, and it was clear that they expected Carapaz to lead.

They published this yesterday before the racing started;

Brailsford has always made leadership decisions on evidence not sentiment, so it doesn’t surprise me that Froome isn’t the leader. He needs racing in his legs and this season has made that difficult. I’d imagine he’ll be in much better shape in the third week.

Oh yeah i think we ‘expect’ announcements from them given the nature of their PR.

I would think that Sunweb will lose Jai Hindley from the podium for the sake of Kelderman's challenge on pink.
Placings 3-8 are only seperated by a minute, with Nibali almost guaranteed to try and smash things up. Some of those are going to be watching each other for the minor GC placings rather than the win.Agreed that Almeida needs to be broken first, then some collaboration with the inevitable Italian attacks to break Kelderman. Nibali to get a mountain stage win, Tao to beat him in the time trial.

I think the pecking order was made very clear on Sunday; Kelderman, TGH and Hindley are the three strongest riders in the race, followed by Almeida. The rest will do well to gain time on those four in the next five stages.
You can’t rule them out but it would take a major reversal of fortunes to see a final podium that didn’t include three of those four.

Looking at the next few stages and the weather the winner could be down to who deals with the conditions best.

Deep insight there.
Have you considered writing for inner ring?
winky. -

for me, the winner will be whoever has the best legs over the three weeks. there's a long way to go between here and milan. anything could happen, and just one bad day could spell the end to any rider's hopes of taking home the coveted "maglia rosa".

Tbh, (with the odd exception) the comments section on inner ring is better than what's posted here.
And no Bernal jokes either.
Tao to win the stage today from a 110k solo break, Nibali to throw a bidon under Fuglsang's wheel before attacking for 5th place, and EF and Movistar to chase down until imploding on the first 3k of the final climb.

Aha... so the long play to sell the Grenadier into forum dwellers. Brailsford is a crafty bugger

There are jokes about Bernal? I just see frozen sausage levels of repetition. -

Is Froome a massive conman, eeking out a few more years of multi-million pound contracts despite a gammy leg? Surely Dan Martin will be stronger at ISN.
His interview with Friebe on ITV YouTube was interesting.

I don’t blame any sportsman for raking in as much cash as possible. It’s a short career. His particularly because he was shit until his mid/late 20s.
I have different reasons for not liking Froome very much.

In one fell swoop he’s taken over from AndyP as the forum’s pro cycling sage.

Okay boomer.
Ineos put out an article that had Froome saying he was looking forward to helping Carapaz try and win the race. So they haven’t been pushing this Froome is in it to win it narrative, not has Froome himself.
