Commentator on Eurosport made me chuckle at one point. When it was starting to get wet towards the end he said something along the lines of,
"Valverde's in his usual place at the head of the race, in 2nd wheel"
It was said genuinely with respect to keeping out of trouble in dodgy conditions...but I just thought of wheel sucking 'cos is its funny to bash him about something.
But yeah, he had to chase on the final climb, no one else was going to get him over to Moreno. Still don't like him for his past, but strong finish there for sure. -

Gerrans cut a tragic figure sat in the road.
Did he get clipped by a moto or one of the cars?

Gerrans has had terrible luck ever since Cav took him out at the start of the Tour

I'm not quite clear, Mr Cycling News reporter, what's your view of Valverde?
Valverde’s first triumph came in 2006, the year of the Operacion Puerto blood doping scandal, and the second came in 2008, the year his DNA was matched to the blood bags found in Dr. Eufemiano Fuentes’ possession in Madrid.
The Spaniard eventually served a two-year ban after a protracted case that went all the way to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but he returned seemingly missing without a beat in 2012. Valverde turned 35 on Saturday and, somehow, he has just enjoyed the best Ardennes week of his career, placing second at Amstel Gold Race last weekend before claiming his third Flèche Wallonne win on Wednesday. -

Did I see somewhere that Dan Martin's contract was up at the end of this year?
Might make sense for him to move on because Garmin Cannondale don't seem to be doing a very good job of positioning him to stay out of trouble when there's a fight to get into a good spot in the bunch.
Not sure he ever had a chance yesterday after the injury at Fleche Wallone.
