And only 3 rounds; and then some 'innovative' new format. Indoor Hammer series, perhaps.

After today I'm tipping Rohan Dennis to win the Tour. More in the spirit that by the time the race starts we will, between us, have tipped everone who has ever ridden a bicycle and one of us might end up looking like a genius.

Hippy for the podium/being the podium. Andy putting the p in to polka dots. Oliver the greenest of green jerseys winners.

Me sprinting? No way.
I'll target the lanterne rouge.

Was a good ride from Dennis all the same.

Interesting to see how Sagan v Matthews v van Aert goes in the green jersey competition.
Van Aert has never done a race this long before and I assume he’ll have team duties.

But the exclusion of trade teams is ridiculous, the Huub Wattbike guys have rekindled interest in the men's team and individual pursuit events.
They just said that perhaps beating the French in Paris with David Lappartient watching wasn’t the smartest move. I know this affects a Dutch sprint team who've been doing well too but does it affect any French teams?

Van Aert will be working for Groenewegen.

Madison Genesis being wound up. Have often wondered about the finances of the UK based conti teams.

Not a great day for pro cycling in Britain :/

If Shimano's UK distro can't keep a team going who can? Equally I couldn't name a rider of their's with a gun to my head and city centre crits can get fucked

The UK scene struggles to recruit and retain sponsors from outside the cycling industry. Most teams are kept going because of the largesse of a few cycling companies, i.e. Madison, Canyon, Condor, Rapha, etc.

Just read the quote from Madison CEO- short version "we need to shift gravel and e-bikes"
“I am immensely proud of what we have achieved and the team is very personal to me. We created a UK road cycle team brand loved by so many people, with a highly desirable image. We have worked incredibly hard to create a team ethos of good sportsmanship with a high level of fan base engagement which delivered some fantastic results and over the last seven years we helped some talented riders achieve their full potential. However, the market is constantly evolving and whilst I would be lying if I said we didn’t have frustrations with certain aspects of the UK race scene, I feel, more importantly, that now is the right time to bring the team to an end so we can invest in other market segments which are now showing much more significant growth potential.”

The route of this Tour de Suisse stage today looks like the best day out you could have on a bike. It even finishes same place it started.

I did this exact route 20 years ago when I was living in Zurich. Not a bad day out.

Also looked like he didn’t lose anytime, and even saved a couple of seconds from not slowing down before the corner.
The start of drifting round corners on TT bikes?
Do you remember the chorus of disapproval when they moved the main track cycling events to the winter? People complained then that it would kill track cycling. There's a lot of short memories out there.
