Has it got a swastika on the left sleeve?
Funny old Vuelta. We’ve only really had one GC stage. Probably a wise move by MitSco today to let the lead go. They can sit in while Movistar and Astana set a pace now.

Valverde, justifiably, had a go at Mitchelton-Scott’s tactics yesterday, basically saying that they’d shirked their responsibility of controlling the race.

What was that guy doing getting in the way of riders just after the finish line today?
-
• #19155
Not looking. Appears to be a race official.

very much wrong place wrong time

I saw that. I don’t think they’ve brought a team capable of controlling the race to be fair.
He would never dream of sitting in and letting others do the work of course 🙄.

To be fair to him, Movistar rarely hesitate when it comes to them having responsibility to control the race.

Jack Haigh said that exact thing, they don't have the guys to sit on the front all day. I think Yates is paranoid he'll crack so is playing it safe.

I've never entirely got this 'responsibility'. Valverde is one second behind Yates; he and Quintana (and others) have as much to lose as Yates does. It's been interesting to see Mitchelton calling the others' bluff over what seems more like a convention that a rational way to race.

It's widely accepted that the team that has the leader's jersey in a stage race has a responsibility to control the race. Very, very few teams shirk this responsibility, mainly because it makes them unpopular and you need friends in bike races.

You don't say.
I understand the tradition, and the bargaining that goes on. But it's interesting to see a team say, nope, sorry, not up for it this time and Movistar have to swallow it.
Until they puke it back up over them later in the race. -

Kristina Vogel can no longer walk after that nasty crash she had. Awful news.

Just found that out , vicky williamson was very lucky to recover from hers . It really is tragic.

Just read that, hadn't heard about any crash and that it was serious, a huge blow for her and her family, and a great loss to the sport. Chapeau

Awful. She’s such a character. I think she will deal with it better than most, but I can’t begin to imagine the psychological impact it would have if cycling was literally your life.

Jesus Christ. Sounds like this could have been a career ender.

Fucking hell Sky are boring
But we're talking about him again and that's probably good for his special edition Castelli kit.
