It's like they went for the race to get exciting and then cut to a commercial break.

I really feel for Yates. Hope he can get it together today. Can't imagine how hard that last 85km must have been mentally - just awful.
So - whilst pottering and doing chores it'll be tms cricket this morning, giro this pm then playoff final in the pub. Fine, fine day to come.

Thirteen days in Pink. Three stage wins.
I know it's not winning outright but fuck me, it's something decent on your palmares and the manner of his collapse just shows he's human.
Maybe next year a bit less swashbuckling, perhaps overly youthful balls out attacks and better team tactics and he'll land it.

Agreed, it was basically a montage of Yates on the verge of crying.

Corking plan that
-
• #17907
That is interesting. Where did you get the facts?
I wonder if Froome's performance yesterday was Sky showing their 3 week stage race experience. Keeping some energy in the bank right until the end.

+1

Yup...It's hopefully a 'rite of passage' of him as an eventual champion- no different to McIlroy choking at the Masters (or whatever it was).
Cracking pre-race interview with George Bennet just shown on Eurosport. Managed to sound very unconvincing to maintain he wasn't calling Froome a cheat, then effectively labelled Mercx one, before the race actually starting around him, and deciding to stop digging and ride the damn thing!

Yeah definitely - and I'm sure the team will have been telling him that. It was more what yesterday must have felt like while in the depths of it.

Watching the highlights on quest last night they asked him about his plan. He had this cheeky smile while talking. Knowing what the outcome was it made me laugh. He knew what he was doing all along and had this planning. The guy is a machine and his experience with 3 week races came into play massively.

Just caught up with yesterday's highlights....what the...?!?! I don't think I've ever seen such an amazing stage or such a huge turn of events. Got to really feel for Yates after a pretty remarkable grand tour to date and regardless of days spent in pink/stage wins he must be feeling absolutely devastated.
I know Froome is hard to read at the best of times but he genuinely looked spent last week. That 80km attack was a joy to watch!

Yates out the back again

• #17914
Pinot's wrecked himself.
-
• #17915
That’s sad to see.
-
• #17916
Game over... man. That's brutal-practically came to a halt in the road.
-
• #17917
Any suggestion that Froome is ruining the race by riding defensively?
-
• #17918
It really was.proper 1000 yard stares.
-
• #17919
You can watch the gap to Pinot counting up every few secs. It’s brutal.
-
• #17920
Will he even finish? I'd be off the bike and posting on here by now.

One suggestion was that Adam should have swapped with Simon for the last week. If everyone is cheating through pharmaceutical or mechanical doping, a little identity doping couldn’t have gone amiss.

Can any fellow Giro viewers make my afternoon better by helping with this?

It's doing my nut in.

Your outer has a kink and it's causing the inner to stick inside?

Go breakless?

I would take it to a mechanic.
But then I am inept and lazy.
Eurosport highlights are notoriously bad.
