Odds checker has Coral offering 100/1 on Gilbert

Right - and he is on the record that MSR is his early season target. Plus he goes well in bad weather, and has repeatedly proven his ability to win two or three up sprints at the end of long, hard classics.

Gilbert won't win. And neither will GvA.
Id love kwiato to get it again, but I don't think he will.Did Cavendish win it once or twice?
-

Judging by their previous results, I don’t think either of them have much chance, but we’ll see.
I’m going out on a limb here, but I think Sagan could win.

Once. Will never win twice.

Yeah not now.

Weird - it is showing me 100-1. Maybe an introductory offer because I don't have an account?

Those odds though... Boonen is the same 250/1 as Pozzato. Poor Pippo.

I've put £1 on Ben Swift. 150/1. Why not.

Kittel at 50/1. Thoughts?
Edit: has he ever won a sprint with a climb before?
-
• #15314
Not a bad idea - there's a good chance someone like Ben will go further up the Poggio and the 'big guns' will mark each other out again.
-
• #15315
@elswick. Nope. Unproven at the distance, needs a decent lead out, and he really can’t climb. I’d be surprised if Kittel’s still around after the Cipressa, and he surely won’t be after the Poggio.
Saying that, it’s a kinder route for pure sprinters than when the peloton somehow allowed Cavendish to win in 2009... but nah, it’s still not happening.

Kwiato ftw

Oddschecker is often really slow to update these type of markets. Lots of Coral's prices were several hours out of date yesterday (and sometimes refreshing would bring the old price back even after they had updated it)..

Sagan is going to climb off with 38k to go, after a dumb crash, putting paid to all the comments about his great bike handling.
Cav is going to get to 140k and pull the plug citing breathing trouble. They find an extra broken rib in an x-ray a day later.
Ewan will go too early and lead out Kwia, Demare, Kristoff and Viviani. Griepel was dropped along with Gilbert and Matthews (who throws his bike after mechanical).
Demare and Kristoff butt heads and block Viviani, Kwia goes around to the left and wins by 37cm.

What about Cadel?
-
• #15321
He's already won it 20 years running so he's letting some young whipper snappers have a go. He's a gent like that.
-
• #15322
Its a good shout. If there is one major race he might win it is this one.
Gonna echo the dismissal of Kittel's chances: far too long and he will suffer on the climbs.

This is like when gazza signed for united.
-
• #15324
I think it's spelled Gaza and I'm not sure there's much unity there.

To help you comprehend the comparison better, it'd be like if cadel won more at BMC.
What time shall I start watching from?
3?
