May as well use a three speed Brompton for that “always in the wrong gear” experience.

Bit far-fetched.

Big fan of this

He looks like his bike's just been stolen by a older boy and he's watching him ride away on it while contemplating having to get the bus home in lycra and cycling shoes.
though I agree, the kit's great

That helmet is the absolute pits. If I was a pro who had the choice between staying at pro-conti level or riding for EF, I think the prospect of that helmet would make my mind up for me.

Nah, you'd take the money while begging on your knees to Vaughters.

even the aero version looks massive on a head and probably not very aero

Reading Phil Gamion’s book. Many thoughts, comes across as a little bitter in a sad way. Also not sure why he bashes on Caleb Ewan so much, who’s won more bike races than he has. But some interesting insights.

Winning bike races makes you more of an arsehole, not less.
Did he really pick on him that much?
-
• #14411
Seemed so. But maybe I just noticed it more.
Seemed bitter that Caleb (aledgily) bought his was onto teams, rather than earning the spot. But point seems moot as he does win (now).

Wrong Caleb. He’s talking about Caleb Fairly (sp?), US pro who rode for High Road and Garmin. His dad is very wealthy, offered to match anyone pledging more than $1 million to the Slipstream crowd funding thing.
Think Caleb is now a rider agent.

Ahh! My bad.
-
• #14414
I just started reading the book last night so not got to that part yet. But the Fairly family firm are one of Vaughter's team's sponsors - and now a few of their riders are represented by Caleb Fairly - so suspicions of buying your way in and conflict of interest aren't unreasonable.

I see Oath dropped out today, a case of rats deserting the sinking ship or a ‘sponsor’ who were putting up very little actual cash being shown the door?
-
• #14416
Mr Oath's nephew had been promised a role in the backscrubbing department but Ms Garmin's brother got it instead.

When their logo on the team bus is smaller that the leisure footwear sponsor I'm guessing you may be right.
-

I said to inrng that I reckon they were shown the door due to EF.

These look like big words without any proof beyond hearsay. Maybe the wrong thread but while we're talking about Gaimon in here...
-
• #14420
Gaimon needs to fuck off into irrelevancy
-
• #14421
I quite liked Gaimon's first book but this seems like a desperate bid to shift units. His 'worst retirement ever' thing is very tiresome too.
-

He relayed a story he heard from someone who rode with Cancellara. The cycling media has picked up on it as they jizz in their pants at the first sign of a motor doping story, especially one involving a big name.
I have more respect for riders like Gaimon than any convicted doper like Valverde or Contador. He worked hard for years to get where he was, only to be treated appallingly by another ex-doper who should fuck off out of the sport.

http://road.cc/content/news/225765-people-behind-motor-doping-website-reveal-it-was-honeypot-operation since we're talking of motor doping. I quite liked this. Though why they're not naming anyone is beyond me. Oh, legal shitstorm.

I thoughr road.cc is a honeypot op.? How meta.

dude needs to make money. No shame in that.
