Maybe Hammer Series-style races will take off and he'll become a specialist at those.
Would like to see him get properly in shape and have a crack at Ardennes week, mind.

Low wage, high bonus, I would bet.

It's the food bill that will keep them awake at night, that and finding mussettes big enough for the feed stops.
Still, he could always get sponsorship from Huel and be like a Colombian Jared Flogle.

That ride from Tao was nucking futs

And Andy says, Betancur has talent to burn. He's so genetically gifted it's unfair. I'd love to see him do well.

Trying to get into this Hammer Series thing but fuck me the commentary is dire... I've been on gym inductions given with more vim.

Ewan looks like he's just fractured a pelvis-all looks a bit Red Hook after the doings of the Giro. Hmm

Unsurprisingly the hammer TTT is a clusterfuck. 5 teams riding in a peloton despite a no team drafting rule. Who knew a TT designed around catching a front marker would result in a big group on the road?

5 teams in TTT mode jostling for position is an absolute clusterfuck

6 now. What a farce.

Impossible to enforce. Group sprint on TT bikes should be fun

Tao giving out shoulders on a TT bike in a sprint finish LOL

Dauphine highlights around yet?

Hammer ttt looked fun! And yes of course a peloton was to be expected with time gaps that small. But is it bad? Smart riding by Sky in the last couple of km secured the win.

Was surprisingly entertaining. Tactically well played by Sky

Ha!

Great sprint by Demare today. Enjoyed the ITV4 analysis of it as well, and the extended heli-cam shot.

Superb work to pick his way through. Particularly as he was dropped from the bunch earlier in the stage.

Tom Dumoulin to stay with Sunweb team for another 4 years. Here's to hoping the sponsor will do the same.
-
• #13074
I don't think an agent would let him sign a 4 year contract if there wasn't an equal contract from the sponsor.

do cyclists get release or contingency clauses like footballers do?
He did indeed but there was no time trial or summit finish that year so you could argue it was a bit of a strange one. Also 8 day race does not a grand tour winner make...
I'm not disagreeing anyway-I think he's fucking talented but he's also an unstable buffet table of an individual and that's why his palmares are as erratic as his weight and I think most DS would look at Ag2R's experience with him as a cautionary tale as a result.
