  • Do you have mad flexibility? Looks like a pretty stretched out position! Awesome collection of bikes, if you decide you don’t need that second breakaway frame after all definitely let me know!

  • Still not a lot of drop, but at the limit now (except with ugly -17 or lower stems)
5'4, short legs, long torso and arms, and can do the splits, bend and touch palms to to the ground, so more flexible than most.
I can now get into aero hoods position with arms at 90 degrees.

  • Breakaway build progressing:

Battled with the headset, got new Scuzzy Logic bearings.
Probably need to buy a new headset at some point.

Also discovered that the 10 Speed Rival FD has a 35mm clamp, so need to source another.
Is the cable pull compatible with Shimano 10 speed?

  • Cranks and rims look great, excited to see this come together.

  • Devastatingly, the cranks are warped.
Almost killed myself taking the octalink BB out, and now put on rival cranks, 105 front derailleur and Pro vive stem and bars.

  • Just bar tape and pedals and ready to ride!

  • A side project:

    Hill climb fixed.
    Currently 6.75kg.

Had an issue with the forks, where there is a brake hole, but the rear was too small to accept a brake nut. Bodged it with a completely unnecessary Tririg Omega aero brake which has replaceable bolts, a 75mm stainless hex bolt and locking nut seemed to do the trick.

Probably going to go DA cranks (for powermeter), lighter stem, carbon bullhorns, TI speedplays, latex tubes, to try and get it down to 6kg.

After which a silly light rear fixed carbon tubular to source to get the bike weight down as far as it goes.

  • Let me know when the HC season is over and you want to sell on that Omega brake :)

  • The hill climb season didn’t really even start for me, having only just built a HC bike...
    Dratted toddler lurgies!

  • Breakaway ready to put bartape on!

Shall I go black bartape or have white saddle/white tape?

  • Touched up paint chips on rear stays and seat tube with white and black car touch up paints, and planning to acetone the logos off the Pro vibe stem.

  • Always black bar tape, and never a white saddle.

  • 2nd dibs on that brake - did you order direct or is there a supplier in the uk?

  • I ordered direct, got 2 callipers just before they updated to the Omega X.

Service was and has been excellent.

  • I've got my size 59 Giant omnium down to 5,9kg so should be very doable with your smaller size.

  • ooh ay, like that.

  • How did you sort the brake hole issue?
Did you just use a different fork?

  • Mine came with a different fork.

  • Makes sense, don't think these forks are particularly light. Which wheels did you go with, and did you go 1/8 or 3/32?

  • Dura ace hubs with some generic china carbon rims. Plain old 1/8

  • 1/8 chains weight a tonne, plus thick chainsets and cogs.

  • Your wheels must have been pretty light, going to have to get a little creative to get mine under 6kg without tubulars.

The vision bullhorns are quite weighty, about 320-330g I think, an aero to drop some weight maybe.

  • that's a blinder

@Acliff don't forget my dibs on your EEBrakes that you "aren't selling" :) :) :)

  • Haha, at this rate, I will have no brakes left for any bikes!
I'm due a great big clearout soon, because the garage needs to be emptied for an extension, so we'll see what ends up going.
