Although heavier, is it worth putting a clutch mech (force 1) at the back?
-
• #153
I would say, ride it and find out. Some people have no problems without a clutch and some lose their chain all the time.

Tried the new gearing on the turbo, it felt awful, it kept on jumping between the 2 big cogs at the back, and I couldn't work out why, thought it was the new chainring.
Discovered that the derailleur was fouling the side of the turbo trainer (cycleops hammer). With a link removed, and the B tension screw adjusted, shifts fine.

Back from holiday in France, stinking cold all week, and comfort ate all the bread and cheese.
Need to lose the pounds, and also drop a bit more weight off the bike.Tasks:
-Carbon saddle (currently got a plush Specialized power saddle for the turbo at the moment)
-Lighter bar tape (current one is well cushioned but pretty heavy) Any recommendations?
-Remove shifter mechanism from left Sram red shifter, or change to a spare S900 shifter.
-Trim steerer & slam
-Lighter seatpost clamp - sadly aerozine don't seem to do a 30.9mm version.
-Hunt for a smaller Hollogram ring(40 or 42t), so I can maybe go for a smaller 11-25 cassette block.
-Eat Salmon, chicken, eggs, lentils, broccoli. repeatAny other ideas that won't blow the budget?

I’m contemplating selling the frame to fund another bike frame purchase (won’t save much weight but lower headtube and more aero).
Anyone interested in a black anodised Caad10 48cm frameset?
-
• #157
That CAAD frame barely has any head tube!
-
• #158
It’s pretty low at 11cm, potential new frame as 10cm, to match my Venge.

Lighter bar tape (current one is well cushioned but pretty heavy) Any recommendations?
Electrical tape

• #160
I get sweaty hands, so electrical tape is probably not going to give me enough grip...
-
• #161
Cotton tape is good. Electrical tape is surprisingly grippy though.

eBay? Was eyeing some, but no need and not my size
-
• #167
Yeah, saw the Allez Sprint in my size (after almost 2 years on my eBay search list) so had to have it.
Sadly the Caad will need to move on to make space, but should be able to build the Allez up almost as light if needed.

The question now is: Etap or duraace 9000?
Sram red, da9000 or hollowgram cranks? -
• #169
Or maybe even, Force CX1, force 50t cranks, 11-36 cassette?
-
• #170
Great choice, been looking for one in my size ages but in the end I gave up and got a Bowman.
I'd get eTap with hollogram cranks, the routing on these looks somewhat weird -

Hollowgrams are bb30 and allez will be bsa no? Needs a fancy small bearing bsa30 bb
-
• #172
allez will be bsa
no, BB30
-
• #173
Interesting. That's handy then
-
• #174
The Allez sprints are BB30.
It’s currently got the shimano 24mm shims in it, but might need to find a gxp one if I put Sram red cranks on. -
• #175
You got the red cranks already?
Strong work!
